If I could give a negative rating, I would. This company continued to take payments out of my bank account AFTER I cancelled. I put in a cancellation request in April and they never processed it until August. They took payments out of my account for July and August and then only refunded me for July, I had to call them numerous times ask about the status of my cancellation and kept getting the run around to call back. Now I'm having to call back over and over again to ensure they process my refund from the August payment. Also, I should add that when I had the equipment installed, it never even worked properly majority of the time. Do not waste your time and money on these products, the company is a complete joke. I will never do business with them again and I will NEVER refer anyone else to them. It's been a real headache dealing with them right from the beginning.
I never write scathing reviews, but I am SO frustrated at this company that I have to. We have been with Vivint for over 5 years. We've never had very good quality of products, and we've had consistently bad service when calling in. Rather than try to be helpful, the service team would rehash the same DIY troubleshooting which takes hours, and would be very reluctant to send anyone over. Our contract was FINALLY over in May of this year, and we called well before that to cancel our account. We were assured by the person on the phone that there would be no further charges. Fast forward to today, I was doing some banking and noticed we have CONTINUED to be charged. I called customer service and asked for this to be rectified, and they had the audacity to tell me that they had no record of the call. First he tried to "sell" me into staying, despite my very clear instructions that I was not interested. They also said "well as per your contract you needed to provide 30 days written notice". But during our call when we stated our intentions, that was NEVER mentioned conveniently. After being on the phone for 45 minutes, the CSR states first that he's "unable" to waive the 30 day cancellation fee not to even speak of the 90 days of charges we've incurred past our cancellation date. After some pushing he says he "managed" to get it waived, but cannot do anything about the 90 day refund. I explained to him that this scenario is EXACTLY why we are choosing to part ways. We'll see if I have to call back next month after I see another charge on my account...I honestly feel like I've been "stolen" from more from this terrible company than if I would've had no security system and had someone actually break in to my house.
This is the worst company to deal with. I have canceled my contract and followed all there cancelation scams. My account was closed then after a couple month I started seeing new charges so I called the customer service and they claimed my account had not been canceled yet and that I still had to pay for my equipment I had plus monitoring. Funny that they charged me for monitoring when all the equipment was removed from my house and not 1 phone call to see what was happening. My account was canceled and I did pay everything out in full and they have the proof because the record all the conversations and have listened to the person I spoke with when I paid the final bill and I was told it was canceled. I have been trying to get my refund back for over 5 months but every week when I call I get a different reason as to why I still haven’t got my refund back. I was told that they would send my money back to the same account they had been taking the payments from. I have called over 10 times in the last 5 months and still don’t have my money back. It over $300 bucks that I’m owed and I still don’t have it. Was told today they are sending a refund in the mail. Probably another lie.
I had residential services with them for 5 years. They have friendly sales people, Free install & equipment but service calls cost extra. if you want to cancel your services after your contract is done, be prepared to send an email in writing for this. Just a warning to potential customers, do your research first before signing up, lower costs doesn’t mean better- you get what you pay for, I wish I had done my research first.
I hate to leave such a poor review, but Vivint has been the absolute worst to deal with. Not only did the install a few years ago go poorly, but their cancellation process and customer service is less than par. I needed to cancel my services and when I called, I was on the phone for quite some time to be told I need to email a cancellation request. Then after sending an email and paying to cancel everything, I'm told it can take up to a month to cancel my services?? I tried to chat to someone today and was told they can only see that my status is still active.. I wish I had my time back and went with a different security system. Not to mention, the app only works about 75% of the time. Not reliable either.
This company is the worst to deal with. Services never worked, cameras need to be reset daily to only work for a couple of hours. Had our panel stuck in an update over night, could not get out of the house. Cancelled our service with them October 17th they denied our cancellation request on the 17th because it was the day our payments come out. I resent them the same email as it was filled out correctly on October 18th they accepted it, but allowing them to bill me for another month. Got an email stating our account was to be cancelled in 30 days. We signed with Telus as they no own Vivint Canada. Asked them what I owed, was told all cancelation fees would be covered from Vivint as I resigned with Telus. Here we are 2 month later my Vivint account is still active the credit department calls me daily. I have wasted hours on the phone with them. 6 times I have been told our account will be cancelled and it still is not. I have been nice, and now I am not so nice about it. My last phone call number 7 I was told that it would be taken care of still waiting for a reply. I did tell my account to stop payment trying to be taken by Vivint.
One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with when it comes to Customer Service and Support. After years of service we asked for our account to be put on hold while we were in a rental waiting for our new home to be built. With NO communication via email or phone our account was only put on hold for 6 months instead of a year and the remainder was sent to collections. Multiple phone calls, hours of our time to communicate and get the situation handled and NO help was given. A client lost as we certainly will NOT be using this company for our new home security service. I truly believe the owners and managers of this company need to reevaluate how they train their staff, the communication they have with clients and what they are doing to retain clients in this market. It is unfortunate that larger companies conduct themselves with such unprofessionalism and feel they have the right to charge clients for services NOT provided, for systems NOT in use for Homes NOT even owned by the client. Horrible experience
We waited 5 days for tech support to come to our home when our thermostat, which is part of the smart home security, stopped our furnace from turning on. We are in Alberta and it was cold in our home. We made 4 calls, and were told the first available appointment was today but they would escalate it, which only meant, someone may or may not come between 0800-1200 Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. No matter how much we expressed the concern it was winter and no heat in our home, nothing happened. Not deemed an emergency. Not impressed. We have removed their thermostat and put one of our own on. However, we still had to have a furnace repair person come to reset our furnace at our cost. And where was Telus throughout this? Informed a Telus tech cannot touch any Vivnt equipment and could not help us. Front line people that we talked with or had any interactions with did their jobs and cannot be faulted for Vivnt and Telus’ failings. Also, this happened to us in October as well and they replaced the thermostat that now doesn’t function.
Have had this garbage for a better part of 5 years. Constantly going down, forever losing camera feed. Terrible customer service. Always needing to upgrade. Tech comes in to do an upgrade on the panel and proceeds on showing me live footage of another customers hom.....of her kitchen.
I am not sure why they have to cut off the wire of my backdoor doorbell. I don’t know why. But backdoor my doorbell stopped working the day they put the front door doorbell camera. I saw this now hanging and wondering what it is. Technician tried to hide it.
