Vivekananda cottage

In Thousand Island Park, Swami Vivekananda spent 10 weeks in the summer of 1895 and his talks here was published as "The Inspired Talks". It's here where Swami Vivekananda initiated several people who followed him. It is said that Swamiji had Samadhi under a tree that is still here in part. It remains open in summer i.e. from June to August. There is a Church viz. 'Tabernacle' where Swamiji was not allowed to Enter, but now they used to invite The Vedanta society to have there Retreat. The renovated Vivekananda cottage was consecrated in July 1948 by Swami Yotiswarananda. N.B.:The community of Thousand Island named the nearby jetty of the area on St Lawrence River as "Vivekananda Landing" where he landed and again boarded the steamer after blessing this Thousand.

The serenity of the place is heart touching. Remains open only during summer. Perfect place to meditate .
