VCC's Chef's Table dinner series is one of Vancouver's best kept secrets! It's a showcase of future culinary talent guided by expert chefs.nnThe multi-course tasting menu was highly creative, with each plate demonstrating technical skill, thoughtful sourcing of seasonal ingredients, and exquisite presentation. The guest highlighted the high quality of the food, noting that it rivaled established fine-dining restaurants across the city.nnFurthermore, the service was polished and attentive. The student team operating the front-of-house showed remarkable professionalism and enthusiasm, contributing to a seamless and memorable evening. For those looking for an incredible value fine-dining experience that also supports the next generation of chefs, this dinner is highly, highly recommended. They will definitely be returning next season!
My experience at Vancouver Community College has been atrocious and incredibly frustrating.nnFirst, they completely mishandled my health benefits. I did not have coverage starting January 2025. I reached out to them in April to point this out. Nothing was fixed for months. They finally re enrolled me in November 2025 and expected me to pay for the entire year of coverage, including the months I had no access to benefits and then I'm supposed to miraculously use a years worth of insurance within 2 months - when they never confirmed if i was okay with having only 2 months to access them. When I asked them to adjust the amount since this was clearly their mistake, they refused. On top of that, they added delinquent fees. Because of this, I cannot access my transcript or my diploma. It feels unfair and honestly ridiculous that I am being penalized for their delay and mistakes.nnThe quality of teaching in the marketing program was also very disappointing from some teachers. For a program that claims to be modern, some of the material is outdated and not aligned with what is actually happening in the industry. Some instructors did not show up to classes on days they themselves scheduled as in person sessions. Others had terrible teaching practices, would yell at students over minor issues, and created an uncomfortable environment. It did not feel professional or supportive.nnIt also feels like domestic students are not a priority. In my class of about 25 students, only 3 of us were domestic while the rest were international students. It seems like they prioritize international admissions while domestic students get waitlisted or pushed aside.nnON TOP of all this, there were international students caught cheating or using AI on projects and tests yet no consequences were given to these students. Good to see they clearly care more about earning international students money rather than giving a good and fair education while following their own policies and rules.nnOverall, I would not recommend this college based on my experience and of the experiences my classmates have had. The administration is disorganized, the policies are unfair, and the quality of instruction does not match what they advertise. DO NOT STUDY HERE!
A very interesting as well as enjoyable lunch at JJ Bistro.nStudent Chefs and Wait Staff provide a welcoming environment. The show stopper is the meals... they are amazing. High quality and very good. The result is better than most high end restaurants. The chef team ensure each dish is created with nothing overcooked or subpar... which as they can be in a high volume high pressure restaurant. Very satisfying.
I would not recommend this college to anyone.nMy daughter did the 'Technology Marketing' diploma. She had only a few in person classes. But you get charged full price.nAnd the administrative personnel along with the student's benefits office are disorganized.nnMy daughter was covered by the school insurance benefits the 1st year which are laughable!, but the 2nd year from January to October she was not covered.nnThey screwed up and removed her benefits for NO reason, she reached out several times during the year.nUntil November they reactivated her benefits.nShe had NO access to health benefits AT ALL from January to October 2025.nnThen in November they demanded that I pay the policy for the full year! They never accepted their screw up, we appealed the decision, they rejected it and forced me to pay for the full year - despite her being unable to use any benefits from Jan to Oct...nnI did pay the full amount, and they did not register my payment and now they put us on default?!?!!?!?!nnAll of this was their error, but they want to make it look like we were responsible! DO NOT STUDY HERE!nThey are holding her transcripts hostage...for their own error, and they keep screwing up...
Amazing college! I’m so happy I studied at VCC. Despite the long distance, it was truly an amazing experience. The instructors were supportive and knowledgeable, and I had such lovely classmates. I would definitely recommend VCC to anyone.
