The Vancouver Island Regional Library(VIRL) is the fourth-largest library system in British Columbia. It serves more than 430,000 people on Vancouver Island, Haida Gwaii (formerly Queen Charlotte Islands) and the Central Coast (Bella Coola) through 38 branch libraries and a books-by-mail service. Administrative offices are located in Nanaimo. Downsides: Not the nicest part of town, parking is hard to come by (paid parking below), and washrooms are now locked requiring assistance from the librarians to open. Upsides: beautiful looking part of town, spacious and easy to find interesting content, nice desks and free computer use area.

Recently. I was at our down town PUBLIC library Nanaimo on Commercial. I've always had the understanding that being in a public place was not the same as being at a private establishment. How is a picture taken in a publicly paid establishment paid my taxes a invasion of anyone's privacy.Anyone attending a public library is in a public function and no way remotely private.

This library has the best resources and the staff are amazing and knowledgeable. We just found out that the library has e research that you can go into, if you need to find out mechanical information, under auto repair. The gentleman took time out of his schedule to help us with this information. Unfortunately, I did not get his name. Thank you.

No hours of operation anywhere... Slack website with no helpful information... Don't need to waste time to find out they closed on a Monday...
