Story

The company started in 1968 and has expanded over the years from a small drainage and backhoe business to include excavator and dozer operators as well as horizontal drilling (boring) and septic system installer crews.

The father and sons team along with their dedicated staff take great pride in their quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. The company’s crews are reliable and knowledgeable in their field.

Cutting edge equipment is used to set up and complete each job to the customer’s satisfaction. GPS and laser equipment are used for layout or pre-survey, these devices reliably guide all the installation machines in grading and finishing.

I reached out to VanGorp Drainage in the fall of 2020. They came out and looked at the job and said that they would tile our farm at the same time as they did the field next door. The neighbour agreed that their field could wait until November 2021 when our crops would be off. VanGorp drainage showed up in early August and tiled the neighbours field. We still had our crops on the fields so they could not install the tiles. They said they would come back in the fall as originally planned. We had a super wet fall and I understand that is not favourable for tiling work. But they continued to tell me new dates that they would come. I believed them. We built a new greenhouse in 2021 and by the late fall we were still laying in water. At a critical time to be able to start spring 2022 crops. We reached out asking them to come and help us solve this problem but they never returned my messages. I ended up finding someone else to do the work to solve the greenhouse problem and VanGorp told them they would be to my field in January. I again believed them. After January they still hadn’t come. I stressed to them that my type of farming is different than other cash crops and I can’t wait until May to do the work. They promised we would be the first in line for the spring. By late March I checked in for another update and was told the first 2 weeks of April. And again believed them. By the end of the 2nd week of April I still hadn’t heard or seen them so I contacted someone else. The other company started work in 2 days. The field will not be systematically tiled but we have dealt with the wet spots so that our farming can continue. We are speciality crop growers and we are on our fields daily, not once a month or less like other cash crops. Once the tiling work by the other company had begun  I messaged the owner and my contact person Jason VanGorp to let him know we had hired someone else and they were here doing the work. Normally messages and phone calls went unanswered for days, I received “okay” back within minutes. This company lead me on for years. Cost me thousands of dollars in income from ruined crops. I could have hired someone else 2 years ago but I trusted that they were going to do the work. The amount we would have paid to VanGorp was a sizeable amount of money. They didn’t want to work and didn’t want our business.

Had small incident with my vehicle and one of there's.  Van Gorp came good on it cause it was right thing to do.  Very honest people.

Thy did a fantastic job installing a main drain on our farm.good job folks
