I have been dealing with Valley First since the late 90's. Every kind of lending product, investments, day to day banking. Every person I have dealt with has been professional courteous kind and caring. When I had a concern it was brought to the team and a positive outcome resulted in a substantial credit. I appreciate how they still cater to the individual.
Worst lending experience I've had. Very unorganized, no communication even when I reach out, they had inconsistencies within their own branch with my application and they thought I was guilty of fraud when it turned out to be one of their own employees being guilty of being completely incompetent. I did one construction mortgage with them, it was a 10 month process and dealt with 4 different advisors. They have very high turnover. Don't bank with credit unions.
I loved my small town credit union when I first started banking there, but THREE times now I have had cheques made out with errors- either the wrong address, wrong name or wrong account... and still were charged for them. I don’t remember when cheques started costing $1 per page? Especially on a simply “free” account. $12 for a package of in branch printed cheques we were charged when the address was incorrect- we called the branch and they said we still had to pay. Also the MasterCard- is now Collabria- apparently it’s owned by the USA???? Why can we not get a credit union owned credit card company that ever stays in Canada?? Something doesn’t sit well with me dealing with a USA credit card and most of the time I try to log on my online account it shows they are experiencing difficulties. Sometimes my card hasn’t worked either and I’ve been in line grocery shopping for the week and left embarrassed multiple times because of system updates/errors etc.

Awful customer service. Did an online application. Didn't hear from anyone. Called the branch had "someone" say "someone" would get back to me. Never happened. Competition is out there. I would hope that they would be trying harder for your business.
The most friendly staff, comfortable environment, convenient location, and good banking rates/products.
