Valley Creek Lodge

About

VALLEY CREEK LODGE is at the doorstep of the Sawtooth Mountains in Stanley, Idaho.

Story

Newly constructed in 1995, VALLEY CREEK LODGE is located at the western end of Stanley, near dining and entertainment, yet away from the noisier part of town. It is also located well back from highway 21 so noise from passing traffic is not a problem.

Each room has its own private bathroom (with a shower over the bathtub) and individually controlled electric heat. All rooms have queen beds, remote control flat-screen color TV, telephones and well equipped kitchenettes. All rooms have both front and rear views. A large picture window in the front provides a magnificent view of the Sawtooth Mountains and step out your back door to your own personal area on a balcony overlooking a magnificent natural riparian area.

Valley Creek is just a short stroll away and has excellent trout fishing in the summer and fall months and in late summer you may be lucky enough to see a mighty Chinook salmon migrating upstream to spawn. In early spring (March, April) you may see the Steelhead migrating upstream to spawn.

Not a fancy hotel - but perfect for our 1 night stay in Stanley. Clean room, crisp sheets and clean white bedspreads, a little kitchenette small refer, sink, coffee pot and 2 burner stove, an oscillating tower fan we used it to cover any traffic noise, small but totally adequate bathroom with tub/shower combo. Tables and chairs both in front and behind the building to enjoy the sun and views. It was an easy walk to dinner in town - about 0.5 mile away. Host was pleasant and efficient at check in - and granted our request for a 2nd floor room. We had a lovely stay in Stanley! [Something to be aware of: There's a storage yard for large equipment to rear of property , behind the RV parking spaces, but it doesn't block the peaceful views of the meandering creek and and mountains beyond.]
What a great small town lodge from which to launch your sawtooth adventures! The room was spotless. And mean spotless with no exaggerating. Nicely appointed room with small kitchenette and great views all around. The wifi worked great for me which is nice considering the location. Yes, it's a little old fashioned, but I really appreciated that as it goes along with the laid back feeling the area. The artwork in the room was also fantastic. Best part of all..., Great water pressure! I always worry about small town lodges not having any water pressure to help clean off gunk after a long day of hiking but this place has great pressure and HOT water! Will definitely stay in the future. If the owner ever wants to retire and sell, give me a call. :D
Unbelievable views out the front and back. A really nice sized room. Everything was clean and not many rooms, felt so relaxed. Had a nice kitchenette that can save a family some money. Beautiful town. I will be back and stay here again. Thanks so muchRooms: 5/5
Herb, the owner, was excellent!! We walked to the hotel from the airport with backpacks, a longer walk than anticipated because of the terrain. My problematic knee was acting up from that long walk. Herb checked us in earlier than normal, so we didn't have to wait around for the regular check-in time. When we left in the morning Herb saw us walking away and offered to drive us to the airport, something that he normally does but hasn't been able to do since covid. We masked up and rode in the backseat of his car up the hill to the airport, which would have been quite a hike. He didn't have to do that, yet he offered anyway. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable The views were fantastic, and we had a gorgeous view out the front and back of the hotel room. The hotel room was equipped with a little dinette that included a small table, two stove burners, a sink, microwave, refrigerator, toaster and coffee maker. The room was stocked with clean plates, utensils and cookware as well. They gave us four bath towels to use. The bed was also very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place. Thanks so much Herb!
We were very excited to stay here, because of the great reviews. We checked in at 7pm last night after a hot day at the lake. I found the gentleman that runs it, to be very short and curt. We were given a top floor unit, and did not know until I just called the owner today, that there is no A/C in Stanley at all. They provided a small fan with cool air, but the room never reached a degree lower than 85. We attempted cold showers, and the bathroom had tons of mosquitos swarming, along with other bugs. By 10pm, we couldn't do it any longer, and left. I called just now to let the owner know of the bugs, and our disappointment and he blamed us for the bugs for having the door open and lights on while we brought our items in. I explained there was no way that many bugs could have found their way in in that short amount of time, and he wanted to argue it. Super disappointed. The room was cute, and clean, and the feature of the kitchenette was nice. The town of Stanley is adorable and charming, and the lake is gorgeous! We will definitely be back, but looking for lodging elsewhere.
Impeccably clean. Stanley isn't large, all the hotels are nearish each other. This one is perhaps the farthest from the "downtown" if you plan on walking. Doesn't look much like a pleasant walk to me. Kitchen is fully equipped with all the wares one might need to cook for themselves. No air conditioning which probably doesn't matter most of the time.
Beautiful spot, close to the town of Stanley walking distance and reasonable rates. We stayed 3 nights in the small RV park. The spaces are small but adequate for any size rig. Hookups include electric, water, sewer and cable that is attached to an OTA antenna that doesn't always work ... But who needs TV when you have this view. Very friendly and caring staff. The lodge is small, quaint motel style. We'll definitely stay here again.
I stayed here for a week last fall 9/2018. That was my 2nd stay; also spent a week the fall of 2017. This is a WONDERFUL place! The location is perfect and the views are superb. Both the owners are very nice. The rooms are large and include a kitchenette. And the whole place is spotless;y clean, you could eat off the floors, the bathrooms sparkle, the bed & bath linen are clean & fresh. And it's nice & quiet. The prices may seem a little high but they are good value for money, you'll be satisfied once you see the rooms.
Owner entered locked room after being asked not to. We were only staying one more night and did not want room service. She entered the room any way and said that it must be cleaned. I told her I was a paying customer and please respect my privacy and to leave the room. At first she refused but after an extremely rude discussion she finally left. She came off extremely judgmental and nasty, made some cruel comments before leaving my room. I have never felt so unwelcome at an establishment in my life.
We only stayed for 1 night in August 2019, but our room was fantastic! It was super clean and had every amenity in the room we could ask for! Such a pleasant stay. We'd definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family. Wonderful experience!Rooms: 5/5
