The tour was excellent thanks to the guide I had. The ship is in excellent shape. If you are into WWII history it is well worth the visit
Finally, I had an opportunity to visit this unique restored destroyer escort in Albany. Excellent tour to experience what it was like for the sailors in World War 2. Amazingly restored with great, knowledgeable tour guides. It's definitely worth the low cost for admission which funds all its operational budget.
We stopped here on our way home from Lake George and it was a great experience! Our tour guide, Carl, was very informative but still fun. He had the kids pretend to do different things on the ship and encouraged a more interactive experience. Ship tours are not my thing at all, but I enjoyed it and was shocked to see that we'd been on the ship for 90 minutes when I checked my watch. I'd recommend for anyone with a passing interest in ships or history.
What a neat historical boat. This is a destroyer escort from W.W. II. We took the extended tour, and it was so worth it. A retired Navy veteran led us through the tour. Bob served on one of these and gave us the absolutely BEST tour. At the end of the regular tour another guide joined us to show us the engines and the artifacts that have been donated by former Navy veterans. There were so many amazing artifacts. If you like history and are in Albany, stop by and check it out. We loved it.
This is a great museum and historical vessel for all ages to learn about. The 2 hours guided tour by Dennis our tour guide was phenomenal. We learned a lot about the ship and its history. Many things were donated by the family of the original crew. Our family really enjoyed it. It was a wonderful day. It was not crowded but this was a weekday trip. Unsure about weekend. If you have trouble going up and down the narrow stairs and hallways, this tour is not for you. Enjoy!!!
