Amazing, caring staff. If you ever have medical needs, this is the place to come. The nurses are wonderfully responsive so long as you are kind to them. They have a variety of talented specialists you wouldn't think a city the size of Edmonton would attract. We are lucky to have such a great facility.
A recent gall bladder attack had me spend 4 days here and all I can say that everyone I met was phenomenal. The people that took me to all of my tests, the nurses who did the tests, the doctors, all the nurses in 3E3; Drew and everyone else, thank you. I know you had your hands full with other patients and despite that you were still so kind. Doctors you are amazing but know I had such great confidence in you because of the nursing staff’s ability. I knew you were good too because they were so brilliant. I can’t thank you all enough. You made a very traumatic situation so much better. I felt safe, I felt cared for, and I felt that everyone in that building had the skills the 3E3 team had so I had confidence I was in good hands. It almost makes me wish I had another gall bladder to remove..almost.
I was on the 4th floor unit 4g3 and had the pleasure to meet these wonderful nurses and care givers. These are the most caring, sweet and compassionate people I have ever met in a hospital. You can hear the staff talking with each other and can understand how such a caring environment is fostered from the charge nurse to the student nurses. I feel blessed to have met all these people. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Unbelievable. Where do I begin? I have my brother in law in the intensive care unit on the fourth floor. This unit is an INTENSIVE CARE unit which means there needs to be at least one nurse for every 2-3 patients. The staffing problem is so horrible that there is 2 nurses for all 25 patients in this unit. Why has the hospital not addressed this issue? You would think that an intensive care unit would have proper EXPERIENCED staff in place. Every patients family has had to tell the nurse what to do for their loved one instead of the nurse actually reading up on their patient and knowing what is happening with them. We have to tell them when it’s feeding time we have to tell them he needs to be changed. Why is that the nurses do not have time to even fix the patients position so they aren’t uncomfortable. Such a disgrace of a ward. This needs to be fixed and no one is doing anything about it.
Gave me an IV needle in my arm for nothing. Necrotic toe almost completely black. Wasn’t give pain killers, or antibiotics. Sat there for 12 hours. Got X-rays and sent home without surgery. Would not recommend if your life hangs in the balance.
I have lost several things here My first time.in May 2020, my new shoes went missing. I was very weak and drowsy during that time. Second time, I lost my ear buds and I was told to hold on to it so I don't lose it. And just now, I lost my brand new android charger. I was hauled to endoscopy and was told to just leave it in my bed. When i came back iy was not there. The nurse was so rude and even told me it is not her fault. I was asking for help but she kept insisting it's not there and that I brought it with me. In fairness most of the nurses here are caring. I just don't want to.see that nurse again.
Rudest nurse in emergency! My father is a double lung recipient who has had nothing but problems as well as almost dying from hospital caught Covid shortly after his transplant. He has been going downhill and after talking to his transplant team, we had agreed that he should go to emerg. While he was in dialysis at the university already, I called to inquire about the wait time and a brief synopsis of the issues as well as informing her about his transplant team. She rudely cut me off asking if I was asking for medical advice and to call 811. No Karen I’m not asking for medical advice, I’m asking the wait time as we can’t have him sitting in a Covid filled hospital wait room for 12 hours. She then proceeded to bark back that the sickest are seen first… by all means if a cardiac arrest or critical patient comes in, please take them first. No family should have to wait when something like that happens but there was no need for the disgusting attitude on the phone. What is wrong with our health care system and these nurses that feel it is okay to act that way? At what point were you told in your training that this attitude is ok? Maybe it is time for her to move on. If I answered the phone like that at my work, I would be let go. She makes all nurses look bad and that is incredibly sad for the ones that work hard, act with kindness and pick up the slack for the Karen’s that I talked to today. Do better.
Doctors in the Emergency Ward must have been picked from the bottom of the barrel for experience, compassion and just plain manners. One doctor was trying EXTREMELY HARD for me to change my Goals of Care. He definitely did not like the rating and wanted me downgrade the care I wanted, which I found appalling. I found the care I received well below average and always dread being taken to this hospital by ambulance.
I refused surgery 5 times and they would not allow me to go hwhome until now that there is nothing for me to go to not even my home the allowing me to get and this iwhat they ace calling a lite slit of a cut in my neck so passes not happy I will be sueing this proceeded that I flat out refused in first place
waited 10 hours to be seen in emergency, could of taken an online medical course and fixed my own arm in that amount of time, when the doctor came it felt like I was at a celebrity meet and greet, my man signed some bloodwork papers and went off. oh yeah they also took me to a room before that and asked me if university was causing me pressure and if it made me suicidal, lovely experience!
