We found the service at USI to be exceptional; truly the type of support that you can only get from a real, local business owner. We were having an incredibly difficult time sourcing the slate we wanted for a fireplace rebuild supply chain disruptions, etc. and USI pulled out all the stops to find it for us at a reasonable price. Universal is my new favorite tile shop. I needed to special order some marble trim to match shower tile. Other shops were unable to find a match. Yuri had no trouble finding an exact match. He ordered with no obligation to me if the match wasn't right. He was terrific to deal with..friendly, helpful, accomodating and fair. Other people in the shop were just as good. Occasionally I find people who are exceptionally good to deal with and that was exactly the case at Universal. Their showroom has an impressive display of very nice tile and stone. I will be back.
Over the past number of years I've had numerous dealings with Universal Slate and each one has been a very pleasant experience. I have purchased tile for a commercial building that I was in charge of and the tile arrived on schedule and the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable in helping me choose the right tile for the application. I've purchased granite counter tops and tile for my own personal use and there again the staff went above and beyond to ensure that I was completed satisfied with the product. I strongly recommend USI for any of your tiling/counter top requirements. There job is not done until the customer is satisfied.
Yuri and the Team, are extremely knowledgable , & friendly. hands down best tile, slate or granite place to go to great variety , of all kind of stone tiles, granite etc , i purchased my kitchen counter top and island granite & my tile, stone for the basement project at universal, i never been happier with the product and quality, starting from the purchase experience to the install. prices are very reasonable or not as expensive compare to other competitor in the city. will definitely recommend to all friends and family! Sad and surprised to see other different comments as this is one of my favorite stone stores in Calgary. It carries many very distinctive quality product with reasonable price. Employees are very helpful, trying their best to help you. I encountered a female worker whose name I don't know who is very diligent and friendly. The male worker Scott spent 30 minutes or longer showing me their factory and warehouse to help me find a product I was looking for. They have a great many of beautiful slate in varied size in the warehouse. Their product seems very high quality with normal price. Although I didn't find the ultra thin stone slate I wanted eventually as few stores in Canada actually has such product, I felt very thankful for their good service and was impressed with the wealth of the stone it has. It is a place I will want to come back even I need no stone. Viewing its collection itself is a pleasure. will recommend it to all stone lovers
Purchased a quartz bath vanity and some shower tile from Mike Pedlar. Had a wonderful experience. The whole team was very professional and and made me feel like family. Universal will definitely be my “go to” shop for any tile, stone, countertop or hard surfaces.

As I go through renos in my home I always have different needs to be met in various areas and the team here is able to point me in the best direction, assist me in selecting great quality products within my budget that looks amazing every time. It's always a pleasure walking into this business.
Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Loved the choices they have and wasn't rushed or pressured. They have nice large displays that show natural stone very well. In the end we picked a nice porcelain floor tile and are really happy with the purchase. Great service!
This company is amazing. I needed to match my existing flooring with slate tiles. They spent 15 minutes to show me all viable/available options in their own inventory and I found the exact tiles that matched my flooring. Thank you so much for having excellent service.
