2/5 Stars Overpriced restaurant with bad service. - the tuna salad was a joke. The fish was cooked through - the tartare tasted like mayonnaise and too plain - the lobster was good but but with a slight taste of chlorine - the service was not attentive and forgot part of the order - long wait even for drinks We would definitely not recommend this restaurant and we would not come again.
My son and I went here for dinner, and we were very pleased by the food and the service. We were one of the first to arrive for dinner service with a reservation, so we were able to get a corner window seat. The Duck Confit was the best thing I had all day. Our server, Rob, was very knowledgeable and made top-notch suggestions regarding the food and the cocktails. We enjoyed the octopus, the mussels, and the filet mignon. My halibut was good, but I'll change up my entire choice next time. We're definitely going back.
We came here for a birthday dinner and we all enjoyed our meal. The cocktails were refined and the appertizers and mains were very flavorful. I was especially looking forward to the dessert and was not disappointed! The souffle was like eating a cloud and the eclair was super tasty. Yes, it is pricey, but this is a great place for a special occasion.
My wife and I rencently went to dinner here and had an amzing time. The host was pleasent and courteous and gave us an option of where to sit. Our server, Jonathan, was knowledeable and gracious to us who are not avid fine diners. He made great wine recommendations to us for our meals. The food was cooked to perfection and delicious! Very impressed!
Overrated French restaurant , don’t even bother ordering their dessert. Crème brûlée was the worst I have had, this is pretty upset. the French type of food is not keeping the standard in a French restaurant. Appetizers, main was just okay.
Attitude is everything, and the server had nothing but nasty attitude: I could name him, but I am not here to publicly shame anyone in particular. The food is darn too salty chicken, mussels, cheese platter, etc, and I suppose they are salty because the restaurant wants to sell drinks to make more money! Aside from being salty, they are pricey for no reason. There is absolutely nothing special about any of the food that the party of six ordered, yet they are pricey beyond the actual value. So does that high price justify the server's snooty attitude? He never came by while we were eating to ask if we were doing okay. He forgot to bring an item, and he claimed that it was to be served with our dessert, although the item was not in the dessert menu, the crepes. Shouldn't he ask us first if the crepes were ordered as a dessert? Well, it was not ordered as a dessert, okay? When I asked for suggestions, the server could not suggest anything in particular because he said, "everything is good here." He actually yelled at me as if I am causing trouble. Well, here is my humble opinion: "Nothing is worth it here, especially you!" I got ripped off with a mandatory 20 percent tip that you added on to my bill without a disclosure, in addition to 4 percent voluntary contribution for the kitchen staff, plus the extra tax in addition to the regular tax. None of these extra charges were disclosed from the beginning! Also, finally, where is my change which you never brought back? I'm going to stay far away from these thieves... One final question: does this overrated, overpriced, and overly pretentious place pull this unethical stuff to everyone?
Just enjoyed another wonderful evening at the Union League last night. This time, I was accompanied by my little boy, who was just as transfixed by the beauty of the place, and the food, as I have always been. The food here is just extraordinary, but still unpretentious, and the presentation is fitting. Service is excellent, and the prices are very fair, considering what is offered. The chef made a special effort to celebrate my little one's birthday, and I doubt he will soon forget a perfect dining experience at what I consider to be the best restaurant in Connecticut, easily.
Wonderful experience, service was fanatic and very knowledgeable about all the items on the menu and wine pairings. Was totally blown away with the quality and how delicious it all was! Absolutely recommend to anyone as long as you don't mind dropping a few shekels. We had a braised short rib and polenta dish that was absolutely phenomenal as well as the duck confit for appetizer.
Dining at Union League is an exquisite experience. From the lovely host escorting us to our table to the DIVINE chocolate soufflé we had for dessert. The service is impeccable, the dining room is stunning and the food is phenomenal. We have dined at Union League twice and are already looking forward to our next visit.
This place is lovely. The ambiance is grand, the staff is well trained and service is top notch. The food, however, fails to match up to these factors. It's just good, not great. I think it starts with the menu, which has too many items, to me a sure correlatation with less than stellar food. The result is that the bill is high and the food is lacking. There are other establishments in town where you get better food for the same or less dough. So come here if you're looking for the location, the service and the atmosphere, not for extraordinary cuisine.
