U-Haul as a company let me down immensely. I had some of the poorest customer service I've ever experienced my first time using it. I had reserved a truck for a 0900 pick up time in petawawa and recieved a confirmation. I went to the location at 0910 to find it locked and closed, when i contacted Uhaul they assured me they would solve the problem, Maria at their customer service line said she would reserve me a truck at the pembroke location and would call to confirm that they would be there to meet me. I accepted that offer and upon receiving confirmation everything was good to go I raced to the next town over as I was now running out of time. Imagine my surprise when i get to the pembroke location to find it is also closed. When I call Uhaul back to find out why the place they assured me to be open was closed they left me on hold for almost 20 minutes, during this time i called the second location in pembroke, a Uhaul/esso, to find the esso open but the uhaul worker not there for the day so the poor girl at the gas station could not get me a truck. When the customer service line either got back or realised i wasnt giving up and hanging up, they assured me that the pembroke esso/uhaul was open and had 3 available trucks.

Don't use U-haul in Petawawa, Deep River or Pembroke. They will set up a reservation and change it to a different location that's less convenient and a more expensive option at the last second. I've now seen this on multiple occasions to friends and myself. They will take every opportunity to grab every last nickel out of a transaction. There is a Discount truck rental at the western edge of Pembroke, which is where I now take all my business.
