I recently rented a moving truck from U-Haul, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. Saloni and another gentleman whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch were both incredibly helpful and kind. Saloni in particular was very professional, friendly, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. I truly appreciated their support during a busy moving day. Dangerously Low Trailer – Extremely Unsafe Setupn 1 starnLocation: Barnett Highway U-Haul, Coquitlam, BCnDate of Rental: July 23, 2025nTime: 7 AMnnThis was my first time renting a trailer, and I trusted that the professionals at U-Haul would hook it up properly. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be not just disappointing, but potentially life-threatening.nnWhen the trailer was attached to my vehicle at the Barnett Highway location, I noticed it sat very low to the ground—far lower than what seemed safe. I didn’t have prior experience with trailers, so I assumed it might be normal. I later learned the standard trailer height should be about 18 inches from the ground—this was nowhere close.nnI drove fully loaded with my family from Coquitlam to Kelowna. Once I arrived and stopped at Enterprise U-Haul in Kelowna to buy trailer locks, their employees were visibly shocked. They couldn’t believe I had been allowed to drive like that and immediately pointed out how unsafe it was. They said, “How did they even let you leave like this?”nnThankfully, the team at Enterprise U-Haul stepped in and helped correct the problem. They flipped over the hitch hook, which raised the trailer back to a safe height. Without their help, I might have continued driving with a dangerously low setup that could’ve easily caused an accident or worse.nnThis kind of negligence from Barnett Highway U-Haul is completely unacceptable. They put my family and others on the road at serious risk. U-Haul needs to ensure all locations properly train their staff and double-check trailer setups before handing them over to customers.nnVery disappointed and truly shaken by the lack of safety and responsibility shown.
This was my first time renting a van from U-Haul, and although I was confused with the online rental I MUCH prefer dealing with actual people, the woman at the counter was VERY patient and helped with my Rental pick-up, never making me feel that I was wasting her time.nWhen I returned to drop off the van, Gurpreet was friendly and quick to acknowledge me, even though he was getting another order ready for a customer, fabulous customer relations! The return process was fast and easy and I appreciated that both staff didn't get frustrated when I obviously didn't know the correct process... but I will next time!
This location isn't bad. The staff are competent and friendly.nnOne highlight is that while the trucks are parked really tight together, if you ask staff to help you drive it out, they will. So awesome. Great on them.nnWhere they lose the one star? None to their own fault. It's maybe corporate to blame. The phone app self check in is pretty awful. It crashed numerous times while I was in line. It is pretty busy in the morning while everyone else is trying to get what they need.nnWill come back. This is a great U-Haul location.
