Terrible, nonexistent, customer service. Rented the most basic UHaul to pick up a couch only 6 miles away, had to pay for 7 gallons of gas because their van meter was broken. The workers said that broken meters were “a common problem” and they didn’t want to do anything about it. I asked the manager to contact me and they said he would the next day. Well, one day later, two days later, three days later, one week later, no call. Glad they can take advantage of their customers and move on. Avoid this company unless you are brave and absolutely sure nothing will go wrong. Otherwise, any mishap and they will leave you out to die.
Was told twice customer service would call me back, never got a call. Protect yourself at all costs against this company
We reserved furniture pads with our truck and were told that there were no furniture pads available when we showed up to pick up the truck. The store didn’t contact us, even though they knew ahead of time that the pads were unavailable. Nor did the they offer to get the pads from the other location, which is under the same management. The store manager said we had to buy the pads from them would have cost us >$70 or go to another location 40 minutes round trip to pick up pads. We had movers waiting and couldn’t afford to drive to another location to get pads. It was a bait and switch. Horrible experience, will never use this location again. Markell the manager refused to take any responsibility. They said they often have people show up with truck reservations and no trucks available. I’ve used UHaul before in other states and the experience was always fine. This location has terrible management! In the future, if a store doesn’t have an item or truck that has been reserved, notify the customer before they get to the store. People who are moving are coordinating lots of different things and Uhaul is taking advantage of its customers by lying about what is available at a location.
Everything was very easy. Staff was nice and helpful. I arrived before my reservation and the truck was still ready. Made the move a lot easier.
I returned my truck 15 mins before closing, before my scheduled return time, and the employee at the desk had me drop my keys in the after hours deposit box, probably because he didn't want to process a return near to closing. I didn't think much of it, then when reviewing my bill I saw I was charged a $20 after-hours return fee for his laziness. I contacted customer service and, after 20 mins on hold, they allegedly notified the management at this location who finalized the charge regardless WITH the $20 fee included. I called customer service again, and after 20 more minutes on hold the woman on the phone transferred me and the robo-voice simply said "I'm sorry, we're experiencing difficulties." and hung up on me. I highly recommend against this location, management is incompetent and the employees will cause you to be charged more due to laziness.
Terrible experience at this location! They were rude and unfriendly. Instead of resolving an issue I had with my reservation, they literally tossed their hands in the air and walked away. On top of that, they forgot to put my rental equipment in the back of the truck and allowed me to drive off without it by not contacting me. So I had to waste an hour of my time which I was paying for through the reservation slot, mind you and I was not reimbursed the lost time or mileage due to their error. No apology was given, as I said, they just walked away and left me standing in the parking lot. Maybe when this place learned some customer service and manners, I would recommend this location. But until then, go somewhere else.
The best way to ensure you get YOUR preferred location is to select the location least convenient and most difficult to get to. By selecting the location you would least prefer U-Haul in its infinite wisdom will wait until the last possible minute to ensure you have no time to make other arrangements and NOT ONLY TO RENT OUT THE EQUIPMENT YOU RESERVED AT YOUR "PREFERRED" LOCATION but they will also take upon themselves to determine the location guaranteed to cause the most inconvenience for you the paying customer and switch your reservation there AND they expect you to pay in full for this disrespectful inconsiderate treatment!
Terrible. I reserved my truck here and they didn't tell me they don't have it until I arrived here. They sent me Branford and didn't even say sorry.
I've used this company twice and these folks have gone above and beyond to provide the best service. This uhaul site is a busy site but the staff are always gracious and do the best they can to serve their customers. Moreover, I noticed that they wish their customers a blessed and good day- always with genuine care. I personally thank, Jason, Ed, Robert and the other staff for helping make my move less stressful!! Please know that what you do for New Haven movers and shakers is appreciated!! Y'all deserve a bonus or something!!! Thanks!!
Truck had a Terrible smell of Marijuana that even after agent sprayed truck the scent was still noticable. So two Days Later I go to rent another truck they gave me the same truck with same Ordor noone take customers experience seriously!
