Story

Monies raised by the Foundation go towards the care and comfort of residents and patients of Twin Oaks Hospital and The Birches Nursing Home.
Twin Oaks Hospital and The Birches Home for Special Care are located in the heart of Musquodoboit Harbour. These facilities are very important to the residents of Musquodoboit Harbour and the Eastern Shore.
The Birches has 40 nursing home beds and 2 respite care beds. Twin Oaks Hospital has 14 beds and a very busy out patient department. Most families in the Musquodoboit Harbour area have been touched by the Twin Oaks and the Birches in some way.

Currently, money raised is going towards the continued refurbishment of the patient rooms at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital. In this multi -year project, the worn furnishings will be replaced, comfortable seating will replace the old chairs, new curtains will be installed, as well as the replacement of the old style small TVs with new flat screen’s. This ambitious project will bring a feeling of “home” to each patient who uses the facility.

The Foundation is a community-based group that raises funds for patient/resident care improvements at the Twin Oaks Hospital and The Birches Home for Special Care.
Since 1991, local supporters have helped us provide for the care and comfort of the residents and patients of our community healthcare facilities.

We are also assisting in funding the new patient registration area at Twin Oaks. For those of you who use this service, it will provide you with much needed space and privacy.

Mission

The Twin Oaks/Birches Health Care Charitable Foundation was formed in 2001 with the merger of The Twin Oaks Hospital Foundation and The Birches Foundation. Both of these legacy organizations have been raising funds in our community for our institutions for many years – entirely through the work of volunteers.
