Turtle Jack's - Guelph
"In 1992, the Lishman family had a dockside moment of inspiration. What if there was a premium restaurant that offered a fresh menu served with the same hospitality one enjoys with family and friends at the cottage? From this simple dockside idea 3 decades ago, Turtle Jack’s has continued to build on the tradition of creating memorable moments with a fresh, savoury menu that includes award-winning ribs, signature wings, unforgettable burgers and creative cocktails. So ‘come on over’ for some cottage-inspired comfort food, enjoyed in a warm atmosphere reminiscent of a meal enjoyed dockside. Turtle Jack’s is a division of MTY Group"

Wouldn't recommend it with a larger group. Can't complain about the food, high quality as always, but we were there for more than 3 hours waiting for our lunch. Service was extremely slow, they didn't have enough staff. Took them 40 minutes to ask for the drinks. Overall: disappointed.
Went here for dinner on a Friday night. waited a while to be seated, not a single staff member to be seen. Restaurant was empty except for 1 other table. the food was mediocre. The one upside to our experience was our friendly at least friendly. Wouldn’t recommend overall. 2 stars at best
Would not recommend dessert "Fire & Ice" . Just a ball of vanilla ice cream rolled in cinnamon; they tell you it's fried but it's not. Nothing special. Our appetizer and entrees however were exceptionally good; we ordered the blackened chicken and chicken parmesan. Would definitely order these menu items again. Delicious! The manager came across as having a zero interest in customer satisfaction or creating a welcoming atmosphere. She brought us our appetizer without so much as a smile and there was no acknowledgment when we thanked her. She didn't offer any napkins or side plates and seemed to have a general disinterest in customer satisfaction. We mentioned to the server that the Fire and Ice dessert did not look fried. Server asked the manager about this who told her it's only fried for 1-2 seconds. I could accept that rationale had manager come out from behind her bar perch to see for herself whether it looked like our desert had been prepared properly. The server was excellent but Ive rated the service as one star because of the manager.
Saturday dinner before a movie. Were seated 10 minutes plus without being offered a drink or acknowledged beyond menus. Restaurant was not busy at all, plenty of staff roaming about. Weirdly, they adjusted the seating in our section so there were occupied booths across the aisle from each other and a 4-top in the middle of that space, making access and passage difficult for everyone. Plenty of booths available so not sure why they did that, as it surely wasn't convenient. Restaurant was out of 2 of the 4 items our group wanted as entrees. Cheese dip appetizer came promptly and was easily the best item we had all evening. Server needed multiple reminders to get us cutlery. Beers arrived all 1" from full - not a huge deal, but beers aren't exactly cheap. The Hell burger was unimpressive - well cooked, but utterly lacking in spice of any kind. The chicken curry bowl was mainly cream sauce and the ribs were thin on sauce and taste. Server was polite and friendly. Kid-friendliness: There were a lot of noisy kids, so I assumed it's kid-friendly. Parking: Close to restaurant and ample, shares plaza with a multiplex, so easy to find. Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible, unless they put random tables in the middle of the aisle.
We went here for a bite to eat with our kiddos and my parents this evening. I hadn’t been to this location in years and no one else had ever been before. We walked in and there was no host. The foyer was uninviting. The chandelier wasn’t on and the Christmas tree that was up didn’t have any lights on. It made you question if the place was even open. Our server, Leo, was kind and did the best he could in the understaffed circumstance they were clearly in. Everything took longer than expected. The bathrooms were disgusting and the place was literally falling apart. Peeling wallpaper, broken floor tiles, burnt out lightbulbs etc. No complaints about our food when it came, though we all felt it was overpriced. It was well prepared and tasty enough, but nothing exciting, special, or unique about it. None of us got alcoholic drinks… $9.75 for a can? Pass. In general, the vibe was kind of sad and depressing. Leo and our good but overpriced meals helped this review get 2 stars. We should’ve turned around the second we saw the “JACKS” light on the front of the building burnt out. This place needs some serious love.
My girlfriend and I went for drinks and appetizers before a movie. The service was horrible. It was not very busy but we waited at least 10 minutes to be seated. The group in front of us decided to leave saying they'd been waiting for 20 minutes. When we finally got seated, we waited at least 20 minutes for our order to be taken, another 30 minutes for 2 appetizers, then at least 30 minutes after we were done eating to get the bill. At one point we asked for napkins because none were brought out with the food; the waitress said sure but 15 minutes later with her walking past us at least 3 times, nothing. The drinks were very tasty and the food was solid if a bit expensive. Overall, it took about 2 hours for 2 drinks and 2 appetizers. Don't go here unless you're ready to wait a long time.
I went here today with a group of 7. We were promptly attended, sat down and our drink orders were taken. It took a few minutes longer to get them than usual but I know that all restaurants are suffering a staff shortage. We placed our orders and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Our waitress was attentive and we were not overly bothered as some poaces do. The food was quiet expensive for what it was, I expected a little more for the money but I am sure a lot of things have gone up lately. The food was good, not great, and honestly I was worried I might be left a little hungry, but a rather expensive dessert topped me up. Overall, in light of inflation caysing crazy prices, it was a good meal, we had great conversation and a giod time was had by all.
Took customer for lunch there, place was less than 25% full but the order took so long that I have to ask my colleagues to get it packed whenever it is ready. Those who stayed back ended up wasting 2 hrs there to eat cold food. Will never visit this place again.Food: 2/5
They close at 8pm. I get there at 6:55pm and both waitresses are in the kitchen talking to the cook. They come out at 7:01pm and tell me they have already had last call. I asked what do you mean? She said “we’re closing early, look at the place we only have two tables full.” So I leave. As I’m looking up another restaurant, two more cars pull in. Were they turned away? Just gave up money cause it’s slow? Will not be going back and it was recommended to me. Will make sure my company doesn’t go there if possible.
Stopped for dinner. Service was good, ordered the Muskoka burger and fries. Food was warm and tasted goodFood: 3/5
