Tung Hing Bakery

The poor reviews for this bakery surprises me. I've been coming here since I was a child and the quality and more surprisingly the pricing has been consistent. I bought a few BBQ Pork buns from here today and they were fresh, with a good amount of filling. The bread is soft and sweet. Note that a BBQ Pork bun is 1.79, it's meant to be a snack, not a meal. If you want more, buy two! For that much money maybe you can get a donut from tim hortons, and there's no meat in that! With the cost of rent, fuel, materials and labor going up, consumers have to remember what the dollar is worth and the cost to value ratio.

This used to be a great place for freshly baked pastries. The quality has gone down hill. Coconut bun has hardly any coconut in it, and it doesn't look fresh at all. I'm not surprised if they resell it the following day. This was a must go places for years. Thought I step into the store to give it another try, and boy, I was right why I stopped going.

Been to Tung Hing Bakery three times and bought the chinese buns. The buns are good and the taste is good. Equivalent to the chinese buns from Kin-Kin Bakery at Dixie Outlet mall. Surprised to see such a low rating, which I think is unwarranted. It looks like some of Tung Hing Bakery competitors have gotten on the internet and given them a bad rating to drag their reviews down.

The buns here are not very good and are overpriced. We found them to be very dry and bland. Check the bbq pork bun in the review. Where is the filling? There is barely any sauce or meat. All bread! Don’t waste your money here. I love to support local businesses but not when they rip you off!

Tiramisu - special cake is to die for! Literally!!! Comes with fresh cocoa powder on top and MOLD inside the cake. High potential food poisoning care of Tung Hing Bakery. Should have read the reviews before buying... Should have inspected before taking it home... Wish there is an option of negative stars for reviews...

Overpriced compared to other chinese bakeries. Filling is minimum. Buns taste old and dry. I had the pineapple bun and the bbq pork bun. Best taste and value for buns can be found on spadina Ave chinatown. Avoid this place if possible.

IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE A 0 OR NEGATIVE STAR RATING I WOULD. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS SHOP. I have NEVER bought from this place before and do NOT recommend to anyone. Got a variety of baked good and buns. One specific type of bun with meat inside had a strong gasoline odour. I thought maybe it was my imagination but after the first bite the smell was stronger and the bun had a gasoline taste. Is the food tampered with, made with bad ingredients or just poor food handling? Judging by other reviews, it could be all of the above. Waste of money to buy anything from here, all of it was thrown out. Don't risk your health for this food. Go elsewhere.

Bought “white sugar cake” for funeral ceremonies among other baked goods and they all looked stale or poorly baked. Ingredients were not fresh either. The white sugar cake is supposed to be light, bouncy and chewy instead it tasted like bread that has been kept out overnight. On top of that, they were late! We had placed the order to be picked up at 9am, but it was not ready and we had to wait. Do yourself a favor and go to another Chinese bakery.

This place does not deserve any star rating. Terrible tasting, no quality. Not authentic Vietnamese let alone Chinese pastries. Appears to be Chinese owned and absolutely really bad bakers. Sometimes, quality and taste are compromised when your ethnic background is not - like in this case - Vietnamese but you try to bake Vietnamese pastries. Or, just learn how to properly make authentic Vietnamese pastries. Unfriendly service as well. I discarded all four different baked goods in the garbage bin. Please see photos showing everything I purchased at this location was discarded as it was all uneatable. My family didn't like it either. I don't understand how they stay in business.

This is the best bakery around!! Their buns are so delicious. I have tried several bakeries that sell similar products but none compare to them. Totally worth checking out! The other reviews surprise me, I’ve been coming here for years and have never had an issue.
