Haven't been here in awhile. So pleased to find its still as great as always! I love the interior with the sock-hop cafe style. So cool that there's a jukebox and any song you request is a donation to the IWK. Service was fast and friendly. It's my favorite place for fish cakes 2 pieces, slightly crispy outside and tasty inside. Love their chow, a bit tangy. First time having one of their shakes and it was awesome! A whole dessert in itself. Overall a great dining experience
We thought we would try a new place for brunch, so we went to True North Diner in Bedford Place Mall. It's funny how I have lived in this area now for 6 years and have not heard of, or even noticed this place. I found it through Google reviews and I am glad I looked. The first thing you notice when walking in is the ambiance and decor. It's like taking a trip back in time to the 50's/60's. They even have a huge bubble gum machine and an old school photo booth which you rarely see these days. They also have a projector set up that that they use to show old commercials on a large white screen that is high up where every one can watch. Please note it is not currently operational but they are looking into getting it repaired. Our waitress I didn't catch her name and the service was great, and the food was fresh and served hot. I was feeling like brunch so I ordered a clubhouse and fries. My wife ordered the all day breakfast and my daughter ordered chicken fingers and fries. We ordered deep fried dill pickles and onion rings as appetizers just to try and see how they were. Both appetizers were delicious and probably one of if not the best deep fried dill pickles and onion rings that I have had to date. The clubhouse was made with real turkey and not the processed sliced turkey which was great. I didn't ask but I believe their fries are home cut/fresh cut fries as they had the skin on them. My daughter conosour of chicken fingers said they were tender. My wife enjoyed her big breakfast as well. They also serve Mother Parker's coffee which I enjoy as I drink my coffee black and it is not bitter. Overall our first visit was great and we will be back to try some other items in the menu. Thank you for the wonderful food and experience Kid-friendliness: My 11 year old enjoyed it. Parking: There is lots of parking as it has a large parking lot. Wheelchair accessibility: This restaurant is on the bottom floor with no stairs so it is easily accessible for wheel chairs.
It was a nice retro sort of spot to eat at. My mom and I loved it, they serve milk shakes and ice cream floats, but if you are lactose-intolerant they do not have any Lactose free ice cream for that. They do have almond milk though for tea and coffee lovers. The food was great! There is also a trail right on the side of the parking lot by the Sackville River for a walk if you want after you eat.
I've been meaning to visit for years. Finally my brother and I stopped in for a late lunch. I intended on getting a burger and they seem to have an interesting array of burgers on the menu but we opted for the hot turkey and the hot hamburger sandwiches. They were hot and fresh, made to order. Fries are hot crisp and fresh. We also ordered coleslaw on the side which was a tasty addition. Our server was nice and friendly. Looking forward to returning and trying something else.
STOP ! Give this place a chance! You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! The milkshakes are fantastic and we only tried the classics chocolate and a strawberry milkshake! If you feel hungry two must tries are the seafood chowder and the burgers, more specifically the Bangger Burger.
We've been here a few times now and have never been disappointed. As soon as you walk in, it's easy to be captivated by the old fashioned diner vibe! The food is always on point, and their milkshakes... Well, they speak for themselves.Food: 5/5
Went here a few months ago and was dazzled. Last night, however was mediocre. New cook? Meatloaf was over minced and had no flavour. Chili dog bun was hard. Coffee milkshake barely tasted like coffee. Just thought I would mention the inconsistency.
Me and my wife went here for dinner for our first night In Halifax! So good
Cornbeef was mid. Coming from newfoundland it's very uncomparable . Service was great though!! milkshakes we're excellent !Food: 3/5
I went there for the Sunday breakfast buffet and I was happy with the food and service. This was my first time going there and thought it was pretty cool, I seen a review where someone said they wished there was vegan burgers. I think that would be a good idea to add a plant based burger to the menu I would try that out. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the city on a Sunday for the breakfast buffet.
