Owned and operated by local chef Dan Bloomquist, the Trout Town Country Cafe is well known for it's hometown service! Located on the corner of 66 & Elm Street in Downtown Kalkaska, Dan cooks up some of the finest briskets, specialty french toast, country style breakfasts, and homemade pies that are fresh from the oven. It's a cozy place. We stopped for lunch after a long road trip. I ordered the Patty melt. Huge! It was tasty as well. Service was very nice and attentive. I got talked (not really a lot of convincing really) into a slice of peanut butter pie. Awesome. Would stop here again easily.

Not a bad place at all. Compact, and always busy. The food was great but the prices could be a bit better. Pricing seems more geared towards the vacation/tourists, but the specials are an awesome bargain, just gotta keep on top of them before you go.

Had the smoke house combo and it was very good. The ribs were fall off the bone, the brisket was juicy and tender and the wings had just the right amount of smokey taste. Even with the remodeling the service was great and the servers were very good.

Just passing thru town with my friend....and was recommended this place...so glad for that! Absolutely great food and Amber, our waitress, was funny and let me have fun with her, she was absolutely wonderful to have as a server! Would go back for sure😊
