Was great to find such a nice area in the city! Lots of walking, jogging, and plenty of benches.
Nothing better than a sunny October day walk around Trout Lake. Love it when the water is still and the colours pop in the afternoon sunlight. Great views of the North Shore mountains. Fabulous destination spot for East Vancouver.
small but beautiful lake. many dog and runners. best for mid of Oct to see maple trees. sunny day must.
Trout Lake has two sides - one for dogs off-leash and one more geared towards families and children. The dog side of the park also hosts baseball diamonds on both sides. The "on-leash" or "family" side has public washrooms, and a large playground and in the summer the concession stand is open. The prices are a bit high but the quality of the food is surprisingly high-end considering its a concession stand. Source: I used to run that stand a couple of years back and I know the brands of the meats, etc. There is also a community centre that hosts a variety of events, classes and more. You do not need to live in the area to have access to these. However, most are paid events/classes. There are some free events to keep an eye out for. There is also an ice rink that rents skates! The park itself is quite beautiful. However, really be aware that these trees are VERY dry. On windy days, be really careful or avoid. There have been MANY incidents of branches/large parts of the tree that have fallen and hit people. The water is VERY dirty and no person should be swimming in it. It's stagnant water and is not fed by any natural water stream nor piping system. It is not filtered so the only way this water would be clean is if we got a LOT of rain. Truthfully, dogs should not be in this water either. However, dog owners including myself will let them anyway since it brings about so much extra quality to our pups lives. There are a LOT of Canadian Geese. Compared to other parts in the city, they're SOMEWHAT nicer but still dont-go-near-them. There is also an abundance of geese poop so this is NOT a bare feet park. Also, watch your dogs - they'll be eating whatever poop they can find. Don't go at night. Coyotes as well as other unfriendlies are out at that time. Late evenings can be a bit rough, too. There are a couple of issues with homeless camping in the park. The park attendant does their best with it. However, they can only do so much. In particular, there is one area by the parking lot to avoid due to someone who lives out of a van there. If you see tents, avoid. There has been a couple w/ a dog that were living around the park in different places. Neither the people nor the dog are friendly.
Great place to get your steps in. There are often cool events happening music, farmers market. Also I go here to watch dogs on a good day there are like many many dogs. Great for Pokemon Go as well. Trout Lake also has a community center and a skating rink
The lake and off-leash areas in general are great, but the lack of training in a lot the dogs that frequent them are a MAJOR deterrent to bringing ours. So many fights and incidents. If you want to traumatize your dog, bring them here. Otherwise it's fine.
It's a wonderful place for families, friends and everyone, and pets friendly!
Nice little walk
A beautiful little respite in the heart of East Van! Complete with nearby trails, green space, washrooms, and concessions.
Love that such a huge portion of this park is dog off leash! This includes a dog beach. Trail around the lake is very muddy. Would expect an urban park to have a better maintained trail.
