Lived in Bowling Green area forever, finally decided to try this place. Very nice, quaint, little establishment. There is not a lot of seating and very pretty tight. The pretzel sticks were smoking hot and delicious. The cheese sauce was great as well. The side salads were good. They actually had greens, NOT iceberg. The steak and mushrooms were the star of the dinner. Steal was cooked perfectly and had a great taste. The French fries were better than most. Why not 5 stars? The mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The coleslaw could have been really good, but it was 65 percent dressing 35 percent slaw. It was just drowning and not very appealing. Also, for these kind of prices, I would have expected instant mashed potatoes. They were very bland. I would come back again, just no coleslaw or mashed potatoes P.S Why no baked potato option?
Great little bar in Bowling Green Ohio right in downtown. Good food, great atmosphere , my only issue was the steaks were a little overcooked otherwise friendly service and a good place to go eat and drink
Underwhelming dinner. My husband really did not like their signature sauce that they covered the steak in. He said it tasted like vinegar and ruined the flavor of the meat. Also, the margarita I ordered was NOT good. I left it at the table. We won't be going back :/
Unfortunately twice now we have attempted to dine here. It's 8:40 on a Saturday night and the kitchen is already closed! We tried a year ago but the kitchen was closed by 7:30pm. I'm confused by the reviews, is there really anyone that eats here anymore? We travel from Toledo because my fiance has raved about them from his past experience years ago. Seems like they are just another bar to me.
Missed a flight from Chicago to Cleveland so had to drive home. Thought make a pit stop to Trotters for a couple brown jugs. Been years looked on the website close at 10. Arrived at 8:30 and turned us away said they were closing early today they felt like going home: what a disappointment. My favorite place ever just crushed me. Wont ever come back. Maybe the John and Judy’s Trotters in Toledo is the place to go now. Oh well still have great memories.
You can do better in dning options in Bg. Steak was pretty tough for size and price. Wife's salmon was very good. Entrees come with a.salad choice and side. Both good . When your signature offering, The brown jug steak, is not very good the rating has to reflect that.

And what reason would I have to make this up? What controversy would I be trying to spark. Of course you are going to have a different view but both I and my guests know what happened. Regardless there are plenty of other places to spend our money. Went in was told there would be a 20 minute wait for a table, though there were plenty of unoccupied tables. Waitress came over to table and asked the couple I was with if they wanted appetizers, never asked me. Bought the other couple water, I had to ask separately. Ask other couple about a drink, came back with there drink, and still never asked if I wanted one. During the course of the meal the waitress came back 2 times to fill there water glasses, never filled mine. When we left my friends said " What was up with her, she completely ignored you as if you were not there." FYI I am black, the couple I was with were white. we did the math and will NEVER return to this place.
Gotta say, I'm a bit disappointed. Food was lukewarm at best. Didn't provide kids menus. Wife got pasta and chicken and didn't like it. Greens beans were...well weird for lack of a better term. I got the Brown Jug and it did not come out sizzling like I am used to. The rolls that it came with were stale and hard. Use to go to the Heatherdowns and Reynolds location all the time until it closed. This is my second time at this location. It was great the first time. I heard a rumor that ownership changed. Also, they charged us a 4% premium for using a credit card and when we complained, the waitress said there was a sign on the door. I checked when I left and it was about the size of a credit card in the far corner of the door, and it said you would get a 4% discount for paying in cash, not a surcharge. Have never heard of this in 25 years of dining out in Toledo area. Attention new owners, ditch the surcharge and institute some quality control. Also, train your staff better. If a customer complains about something, they should get a manager.
I really thought they had the best steak. Well nope, i can make a better steak. It has a mix of steak sauce ,and was not that good for $25.00. Also the fries that come with was kiddy size. Nope not a again! Then we waiting a hour and half to get our food. The table of 6 came after us and got there food faster. When we were a table of 4.
