With my experience this place just doesn't feel like it's worth the money that they ask. I had 2 Valentine's Day dinners, didn't order any drinks and it cost $180 after tax. The food was okay chicken was really good, not too fancy at all though. In my opinion it's not worth going for just the view. My waitress Rachel was very nice though and always made sure we were well taken care of. This place just needs to either raise their food quality to be worth what is to be paid or just lower their prices, any of which I believe would make this an incredible place to dine.
We went to Toula during the Summerlicious promotion. We thought that it would be very busy but it wasn't. The most spectacular thing about Toula is the view it has. The view of the city and the view of Toronto Island are just magnificent. If for no other reason you decide to go to Toula than the view, it will be worthwhile. The food was delicious. Everything was fresh and had clearly been made with special attention go detail. My only ask would be about the staff as I didn't feel that we had a 'dedicated' server for our table. It made me feel like the tip would not be given to anyone specific.
We went as a group for winterlicious and the place is alright, if not a little dated. Getting into the hotel and up the scenic elevator to the restaurant was nice and a great view of the city. Once we got up there the view was amazing and the layout of the restaurant is really cool. As the sun started to set you could really see the grime on the windows which didn’t help. Ordered the burrata appetizer and it was a little lacklustre and only a small piece. Then had the surf and turf for main and the piece of steak was very nice and sizeable and cooked to perfection, however there were 3 small shrimp on top and hardly any scalloped potatoes. Then for dessert, had the trio and it was 3, sad-looking little tidbits of a dessert someone had left behind and none of them were exceptional. Hopefully it was a one-off time as everything else was quite nice and location is unbeatable.
My friend and I go to Toula every year for Summerlicious because they always have the BEST menu options. This time, I tried the meat/cheese board to start, salmon with risotto as the main and the trio dessert option and it was all fantastic. Not to mention the beautiful view!! Great if you're looking for a fancier place in the downtown core with a nice atmosphere. They also try their best to seat you right by the window which is great - the view of the water on a clear day is amazing but the city view is also cool at night.
It's interesting that we all go to these places and have such different experiences....I took my partner here for her birthday and it was great. The scallops were seared perfectly, our main course was amazing and had big portions and they even did something special for dessert to celebrate her birthday. I would recommend.
Went for a winterlicious dinner recently. I ordered scallop as my app and lamb for my entree. While the scallop tasted pretty good... The patty beneath the scallop was a whole different story. It was chewy and tasted like paper. I'm not sure why they served it in the first place. The lamb was pretty good. It was decent amount with vegetables. The gravy served on top of the lamb was also pretty good. The dessert platter I was not so happy about. The texture of the cheesecake was completely off. The tiramisu and pannacotta was okay. Overall it was a good experience but wish all the courses were equally good.
The views are amazing. Watch the ferries back and forth to the island or the airplanes land at Billy Bishop. The food was good. Friendly service. Note the restaurant does not rotate or didn't when I was there.
I was there with my girls and we tried the Winterlicious menu. The staff was super friendly especially our server who didn't hesitate to respond to all our questions. The only thing I wish was different was the wait for the food. Also my main course I had salmon was cold. Apart from that the view, the scenic elevator ride and the atmosphere was excellent.
Gorgeous view of the lake. Truly fabulous service. A young lady took our orders and another gentleman helped her serve our table #56 @ 2 pm 20180716. They were very attentive and kind. At one point i noticed our sever was setting up another table in the most peaceful manner. She was moving and readjusting the napkin and cutlery with so much attention to detail. It's such a rare and wonderful sight to see others care for what they do, and it definitely doesn't go unnoticed. I felt very well taken care of, and I know that seamless service was a result of considerate planning on the sevice team's part. We ordered from the summerlicious menu, which was good. I did like the gnocchi, but the gelato was not exactly what i expected. I would try a different option the first course salad next time.
My Girlfriend and i decided to try the winterlicious menu from Toula. I must say, it definitely didn't disappoint. The overall experience was very pleasant and our waiter Ronnie was excellent. Very knowledgeable on the wine, catered to our needs and made our experience very enjoyable. He was very good with his timing on delivering our food promptly and ensured that our drinks were always filled. The other servers were also superb in assisting Ronnie. The food The food was delicious and there were many to options to choose from. My girlfriend and i choose the 2 salads as the appetizers. The Amore salad was perfect but the other salad was not. It was way to salty & flavorless. The main course we choose were the 2 pastas. I got the rigatoni in a tomato sauce with shredded chicken & mushrooms. My girlfriend got the gnocchi in a pesto sauce with pine nuts. I must say, not all places know how to cook delicious gnocchi/pasta but at Toula, you truly out did yourselves. It was so delicious. Finally we got our desserts, which is expected for winterlicious to serve 3 very small portions of desserts for taste tests but that ricotta cheesecake.... God damn was really good. Overall it was definitely worth a try and i would come back again to try different options.
