Best Donburi place in downtown Vancouver. The restaurant itself is not big but enough to cover up to 25~30 customers at once. The servers are nice and they are from Japan and the owner is Korean. The quality of the foods we had so far was great compared to other Japanese restaurants in Vancouver and Burnaby. Not overpriced for sure. Uses good sashi for Donburi. We go there at least 1~2 a week recently. I like to try every menu there if possible.
We found this little restaurant at our lunch time. I ordered a Aburi sushi combo which took long time, but it’s worth waiting. They were flavourful and beautiful. I wouldnt recommend ordering it if you are in a hurry. My boys liked the Katsu curry and Chirashi. The server kindly filled our tea several times. The price was reasonable. Over all, it was a good lunch experience.
We were enticed by the menu posted on their front window, so glad we stopped in for a light lunch! Had their Hotate Kyu Roll and Chicken Karaage. The roll was a unique and tasty combination of beef, different mushrooms, ikura, and each piece was topped with a good sized scallop. The karaage was boneless and came with 5 pieces that were flavourful and not greasy. Would recommend if you're in the area! Very convenient as it's near Granville skytrain on Seymour.
Amazing donburi, super authentic.. Tasted similar to one's in Japan. Sushi was also really unique and deliciousFood: 5/5
Great cheese Katsu, similar to Saku! I actually liked this salad better than Saku, so go here and skip the line! Delicious, and would highly recommend! I'll be returning! They were hammering a lot in the kitchen and could be distracting to dining experience, but other than that it was great! I recommend prepping loud items when people aren't there or somewhere less distracting.
The aburi was great! Also enjoyed the dons and sushi rolls. Great, accessible location.
I have a lot to say on this restaurant due to the exceptional quality of food, service and value. We have the Gyu beef and Katsu mori curry with chicken karaage to start. The Gyu beef was immensely flavorful, with a balance of egg and beef in the rice. It was perfectly seasoned and was very filling due to a large portion for so little money. The katsu was crunchy, and would burst with flavor. The curry was a bit bland but the overall meal was amazing. The chicken karaage was thinly cut, and full of flavor with perfect seasoning. Going onto my favorite part of the experience, the service !! The shorter Japanese woman that served us was one of my favorite servers all time. She was so kind and sweet and would bow everytime we asked for anything. It made me feel at home, like my mom was serving us. The price was very low, and for all that food our bill was about $50. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to everyone.
I got lost looking for a different japanese restaurant and I accidentally stumbled upon this place. Wow! Blown away by how good and affordable the food was. Definitely one of those happy little accidents. Highly Recommend
Always enjoyed their Sister restaurant near waterfront station, but this new location is much closer to my work! My new go to lunch spot. Definitely recommend their Oyakodon! So much bang for the buck
Was here today. Half way through my 1 hr lunch decided I did want lunch. This used to be another sushi place. I been here like November? The new owner started in January apparently. Met the owner today. Most of the restaurant renovation was done by the owner himself. I had wanted some assortment of sushi or white udon or maybe gyoza. They didn’t have any assortments just the usual 6 piece of same sushi. And udon I think they said they have but it’s not on the menu they are in the process of changing the menu. And gyoza also no. I ended up with a chicken and egg rice came with a nice miso soup. The place was fast it really did take 3-4 mins to make the take out. I had ordered got it and got back to my work place in 7 mins. typical of most sushi places it’s a bit dimmer in ambient lighting. But just feedback: from customers perspective outside. The windows being tinted it makes the restaurant appear closed cuz you can barely see the lights are on. I did also note that as I was leaving this would be like 2:05 pm? That table for 4-5 came in and was told they are closed for break. A signage saying our for lunch back at 2:30 pm etc would be helpful. Or lock the door. The price was good $14 with tip for the lunch to go. If they charged for the take out bag I do not know but I liked how they didn’t ask me if I wanted a bag and didn’t tell me if they were charging for the bag. Vegetarian options: It’s Japanese. Most items can be customized. Kid-friendliness: Well the tables are bigger and the music was decently loud and just radio. So that’s nice. Parking: It’s downtown Vancouver. There’s meter parking on like every street. Wheelchair accessibility: It’s got a door. Tables are spaced out. chairs can be moved out of the way. It is MUCH MORE SPACIOUS than most Japanese restaurants. Dietary restrictions: Well it’s Japanese food so most things can be just made to order assembled to order so to can skip ingredients but cannot promise not cross contamination etc.
