I have personally used TVEH over the last decade and a half f for multiple senior dog emergencies and my most or recent trip last month for two cats. The people who work at this vet, whether front desk, triage or emergency veterinarian are incredible people. What they see on a daily basis must be overwhelming and quite possibly heart breaking at times. Even with that they are able to act quick, fast and professional.nnFive years ago my dog was rushed there needing emergency blood transfusion and treatment. We ended up getting 5 extra years with her, where she passed of old age. 7 years ago, they were able to keep my dog happy and healthy as he had conjestive heart failure. Even with the diagnosis, due to their on going efforts he lived a full life, passing to it eventually, years later as a senior.nnMy last encounter was when my cat went into sudden cardiac distress. I called on the drive and was able to meet the doctors directly in the lobby. Unfortunately my cat was passing and there was no other medical interventions that could have been done. No up-selling, realistic conversations and true compassion. I fully believe the doctors tried their hardest, acted fast and provided all the ethical care they could for her. They had her checked and fully assessed within minutes in a moment where time was critical. I truly believe they were the best people to help and she was in the best care. Unfortunately, CHF can be bigger than us all. I want to thank the team for their decades of help for my family. They’ve been there through some of our worst moments, and were able to on multiple times; give me many many years with my beloved pets. Special thanks to Dr Elias and team for my last visit. And to the receptionists for their professionalism and care. True heroes, thank you!
I cannot recommend this practice enough. We are so blessed to have found Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital! The level of care, compassion, knowledge and dedication that the entire staff bring to the table is outstanding.nnTwo years ago, Dr. Carl Porter saved Barkley's life by removing a large intestinal mass from his body. Since then, Dr. Dawn Martin and Kate! have always gone above and beyond to proactively ensure he was living his healthiest and happiest life, never hesitating to dig deeper until we found the root cause.nEvery step of the way, Krista Hunter always checked in with us to see how he was doing. And the front desk staff were always so welcoming, which is inspiring given the amount of distressed pet parents they see on a daily basis! Thank you, each of you, for always going the extra mile for your patients.nnThough Barkley is no longer with us, it warms my heart to know that you and I gave him his best life possible. Thank you, sincerely.
Everyone on the TVEH team, especially Dr. Lane, were wonderful in supporting my beloved cat Mr. Ham fight a scary and aggressive form of cancer. They were always there to answer questions, and went above and beyond in trying to help my cat achieve the highest quality of life that he could. The team treated Mr. Ham kindly and helped him feel safe every step of the way. Mr. Ham loves his new friends at the hospital!
I am so appreciative for Dr. Rhea Plesman and her team for the great care they provided Hunter, our 8 year old Weimaraner, after she suffered a full CCL tear. Her surgery was in April 2025, so almost a year later I wanted to share just how happy we are with the results from her TPLO surgery. I had high hopes for the procedure and I am thrilled to say they are even better than I anticipated. Not only does she have nearly full mobility, she's running better than she has in years. The entire team was very kind and professional throughout the process including excellent communication, even calling with updates along the different stages of the surgery including her post-op recovery overnight stay, all very much appreciated. Thank you again Dr. Plesman for the successful surgery and giving our girl the ability to run and play without pain.
FIND ANOTHER PLACE!!!nnMy dog had a hip dislocation and was in severe pain.nnWhen something like this happened in the past, another clinic took care of it for ~$300 and the Vet fixed it in 2 min.nnThe Vet here said “they do things differently here” — and that they certainly do.nn>$1,000 and 8 hrs of wait time after, they asked me to pay without knowing what they were charging. When I mentioned they could not do that, they allowed me to see a computer screen with the charges for sedation, x-ray, hip reduction, and fixing with a similar maneuver to the previous Vet.nnThey did not examine her until 2 hrs after arriving, then said in 2 hrs she should be ready. We left after 8 hrs.nnNo matter if you have to drive elsewhere, the drive is worth it and much better than this.nThe College of Veterinary Medicine should open an investigation into this place.
