Fixed my lens in a week, took the price of the consult out of the final price for the work done, even split the cost over two cards for me. Only thing is that you NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AHEAD OF TIME. You can't just walk up, so email and make an appointment before showing up.
My go-to for repairs to my Canon camera system. They're extremely knowledgeable and thorough about camera repairs. Can be pricey, but ordering parts from manufacturers is not a cheap deal and the expertise required to service a camera is high for electronics, so I find it's worth it. Small operation that takes time off during the holidays so you may have to try to time your service requests along with that. Still, they've been in operation for decades for a reason.
5/5 Repair, 3/5 customer service. My only issue was that there was very little communication with how my repair was going, when I finally asked if my repair was done after a month of silence they told me it was ready to pick up that day. I'm not sure how long it had been ready. But other than that very friendly and quick to reply to emails when I did ask questions. Generally good experience, and will still be back for repairs if needed.
Need to share my experience at Toronto Camera Repair. I had worked for months planning a two week through hike on the North Boundary Trail of jasper National Park. 1000’s of details, not the least of which was upgrading my camera kit. One week before leaving my 3 week old $1200 28-300 rolls off a counter...broke and dead. Not good. Toronto Camera charged me their standard $25.00 fee for lens repairs, They said they would do their best to get a quote for me and do the repair before my flight... I wasn’t optimistic... and my pessimism grew as the hours, then days ticked by without any updates. The quote finally arrived, hundreds less than I would have been quoted as the flat rate elsewhere, and the lens was repaired with one day to spare. It worked perfectly. Absolutely amazing. And of course the $25 was credited against m invoice. Would use their service again in a heartbeat!
This place doesn't even deserve a 1 star. My camera had previous fallen in water and I left it in a bag of rice for over 2 months and the camera worked perfectly fine. However the memory card wouldn't stay in the slot. It wouldn't click and stay intact. I brought it my camera to get it fixed and they had charged me 28$ to have a look at it which I thought was pretty reasonable. After a week I received a call and was been told the camera had to be returned to owner since the problem was not worth fixing. I asked them why and how much would it cost it to be fixed and no definite answer was given. All I was told that it would not be worth fixing it. I would have appreciated if they have given me an answer as to why the problem couldn't be fixed. So I went in to the store to talk to them and the lady working there wouldn't give me an estimate to get the damage fixed nor gave me a solid answer as to what the problem was. After being persistent she said the water and sand had caused a damage to the camera but the camera was working. And once again she wouldn't give me an estimate to how much would it cost. I am very disappointed with how this was handled. The customer service was horrible. Would not recommend this place to anyone! Just a money grab!
I was a little hesitant given some of the reviews on here but I went ahead due to how much more convenient this camera repair shop was to others for me. And I'm glad I did. I got my camera back in about 12 working days even though they had to order in a part. Works as least as good as the day it was originally purchased. Yes, you do have to pay $25 to have it assessed but that payment is taken off the bill if you proceed with the repairs you may want to do your own research first to see if it is worth repairing before going there. I was ok with that hey, if you've ever had a technician come to your house for a major appliance, it's way more than $25. Customer Service was good - updates were timely. The shop itself is a bit odd in that you feel like you are going into a dentist office, but that doesn't matter to me too much. At least you know it's clean.
It took them a month and a half to determine that they are unable to diagnose a focus problem with my Sony RX100. They recommended to send the camera to the manufacturer. I should have done that in the first place. They did not refund the $28.25 evaluation fee. Do NOT go here for your camera repair needs.
Excellent service and very reasonable prices. Can even fix your beloved old film cameras like my Nikon fm3a and Olympus xa2. Highly recommended. Will bring any cameras that need fixing here in the future but let's hope I don't break anymore cameras!.
Toronto Camera Service Centre has provided me the WORSE service of an kind I have seen in my life. I am giving them a star because I do not have a choice to give them zero for their extremely poor and dishonest service. I had an issue with my Nikon D800 camera as the camera was not working properly using the battery grip, but was working perfect using the battery on camera body. As soon as I dropped the camera to the Service store I was charged $25 for getting an estimate, which I find a fair price. However, it took them 3 weeks to get back to me with an estimate of around $600.00 advising me the camera had multiple issues which I never had experienced before. I agreed to pay the repair fee, however it took them 3 months to get back to me and handing the camera back as NOT REPAIRED advising the technician was not able to find what was the issue. It was very frustrating that after multiple follow ups and leaving my camera to this store for 3 months to be repaired I received this kind of un-professional response. The story does not end here, as after complaining to them I went home and checked my shutter count and noticed it had approximately 1,200 shots more then what it had at the moment I dropped the camera for repair which means they were using my camera for free instead of trying to repair it. My suggestion is keep your money and send your cameras for repair to Nikon/Canon or your camera manufacturer and do not waste it with such a small and un-professional store that does not know the ABC of the customer service. I had to e-mail or call them multiple times to get a response on the status of the repair. Above all, their service does not come cheap, so why not spending a bit more extra and have your camera serviced by professionals.
I'd like to firstly start off by saying it took nearly 4 months for my lens to come back... literally almost HALF THE YEAR. The first time I got it back 1.5 months the manual focus had a defect on it so I returned it since they have their warranty. When I returned they said that it was my own damages and that it was fine when the repair man fixed it but still agreed to fix it. Fast forward 2 months later after I called them a few times in between the months they finally said it was finished. I go to pick up the lens to find that the manual focus was STILL not working... They fixed it within a week and called me back, meaning they could have fixed it way earlier but it took them 4 months for my lens... I wouldn't recommend this place if you need your equipment back within a reasonable time period.
