I decided to try this place for lunch. I decided to call an order in since i wasnt familiar with the menu and the options werent clear online. When i called in I Specifically informed them that I was not familiar with their menu and that it was my 1st time eating there. I asked if I could add fried rice to the sweet-and-sour chicken lunch special, And I was told yes. I assumed this would be vegetable fried rice since i was not asked about a meat, perhaps i ahould have asked. I picked up my order and went back to the office only to find that my fried rice had pork in it. I do not eat pork. It makes me sick. I called the restaurant, and informed them of what had occurred and they were unwilling to remake the item without the pork fried rice. Again I informed them this was my 1st time coming..and that I called in my order. I was never informed that it would be pork Fried rice in the entree- i should have been told this. Why would you put pork fried rice in a chicken entree anyway. Because of this I will not be visiting again. I had to toss the whole thing. My lunch is over now and Im hungry . I work nearby and just informed my coworkers of this experience.
This is the best food in the world. I have been going here for over 20 yrs. To bad I live in another state and can't visit that often. Parking: Lots of parking.
Lived in Villa Park We moved to Romeoville and it a nice to come back to our favorite restaurant love all their food good to know they serve sushi now
Just as delicious as I remember from living around here as a kid! So good!!Food: 5/5
Kids ordered simple dishes. Sweet and sour chicken and Orange chicken. Orange chicken was terribly and very small if any chicken at all in each piece. S&S chicken was average, it was plain because no sauce was given with the meal, even after we asked again for some. My wife and I got the meal for two. Appetizer was almost a joke. Meat was well over cooked burnt and chewy. Not sure how others believe this place is amazing. We will not be coming back to dine.
Where to begin. It took forever to get food but we knew it from the beginning. With all the people getting takeout and sitting inside we thought the food must be worth the wait. It was so bad. Our teenage son who eats everything in sight and loves leftovers refused to take anything home. The sauces looked like gravy, food was cold, and either had no flavor or tasted like straight up salt. Just awful!
We have been coming to Tongs regularly for 30 years - yes, 30 years! We drive 40 minutes to come because it’s our favorite restaurant. It breaks my heart to leave a bad review but tonight, the Polynesian Beef was truly awful. It wasn’t just a bad cut of meat, the sauce and meat tasted terrible! When we addressed the issue with management, they told us the recipe had been changed. The original owners have retired and changes like this are unlikely to be good for business. The Polynesian Beef was one of the main things that drew us there over the years. It’s unlikely we would return for this new recipe. Everyone in our large group agreed that this was the biggest draw for them and the change was a massive disappointment. We hope the new ownership will see this review and consider a return to the original recipe. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
This place is very dusty on the inside. My son was creeped out by the cobwebs hanging down from the fake plants. Service was terribly behind. For some reason, although they have a sushi bar, they do not have sushi on the menu. The food was so late that we ended up getting our entrees to go. I've definitely had better.Food: 2/5
Best Chinese in the area for sure! I’ve tried all the surrounding places and this one wins easily. I used to eat in the city but this is great if not wanting to go to China town and downtown areaRecommended dishesCrab Rangoon, Egg Roll
This place was a childhood favorite of mine but the food quality fell off a cliff. It was bad. Egg roll was solid though, particularly after being air fried at home.Food: 2/5
