Toasty Arepas was great! Tried the pea-based barbacoa arepa combo, much more filling than I expected. The staff member was super helpful and descriptive with the menu items that were new to me, and, this is a very small detail but no tiered pricing for different soft drinks made it very seamless to try something I haven't seen before. The sandwich itself was dense and delicious, it's hard to get these fake meats juicy and they did a great job. The corn 'bread' itself was a really good texture and had a fun waffle effect to it. The Yuca Fries included in the combo were very good, not too salty, and there were some fun dips included in the box. You can see in the photos, these fries are quite thick cut so a small word of caution for anyone who may have trouble swallowing. Prices are about what I'd expect for a premium sandwich and sides. March 2022, still thankfully following health guidelines too.
The sandwiches are amazing, plus the yuca fries are perfectly cooked with wonderful sauces on the side. My partner and I randomly came across this place and we were blown away with the flavour of our Arepas. I had the pulled pork and he had the pork belly. The photo doesn’t do it justice!! As our first time trying Colombian food, we were so happy with our experience! We will be back :
Take-out lunch date with my sister, don't mind if I do!! Foodies I have to say that the Beechwood ave district is starting to become home to some of the tastiest Latin restaurants in Ottawa. Just off Beechwood, on Marier Ave, you will find a catering company called Goodies and they share their facility with Toasty Arepa. Pierre is chef and owner with Luisa to bring us the flavours of Colombia, Venezuela and Sourh America. Along side secret family recipes and over 10 years culture experience Chef Pierre has been able to create their amazing menu. Everything is 100% gluten-free, and many meat and vegetarian options. We were not disappointed!! We really wanted to try different items from the menu, including their version of french fries called Yuca fries, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, so delicious! We got the pulled pork arepa sandwich, pulled beef arepa sandwich and the reina pepiada arepa sandwich, each came with Yuca fries, and a drink. We also got a few empanadas, little pockets stuffed with the same items in their sandwiches. They also give different dips to eat with the food, a cilantro yogurt, their version of salsa delicious and guacamole. Everything was so flavourful, well seasoned and amazing portions. We can't wait to try other items from their menu. This is a must try!! #supportlocal #ottawafoodiestalker
I ordered from toasty arepas more then a few times now! and they keep me coming back for more, it’s delicious. the Arepas are authentic, like served in Colombia. The empanadas are legit and flavourful. I especially like the bandeja paisa & the picada box, It brings me back to past travels to Colombia in an instant, it is authentic and the sauces are to die for! Aji cilantro. I will definitely be ordering again.
Yes I admit, we were one of those people searching for Arepas after watching Encanto and this place did not disappoint. We tried the Arepa paisa plain, con queso cheese and a couple of types of empanadas. Delicious and as yummy as imagined. If you like sweet plantains you have to try the Tajadas. It’s made from ripened plantains and they put a mozzarella/cheddar blend on top. It reminded me of childhood food without cheese, so for me it was amazing. We will definitely be going back.
Tried today for lunch and was a tasty find. Beef empanadas and cheese tarequenos. Amazing customer service even had a cake slice thrown in! Would recommend!
Excellent Columbian Cuisine! Everything is made fresh at the time of order. Everything we ordered was amazing! Staff is very friendly. We drove across town to try this place and will definitely be return customers.Food: 5/5
DELICIOUS and LOADS of MEAT in the arepas. I hope that never changes! Try the Yucca fries. I was hesitant not knowing what yucca tastes like, but they ended up being very good. Great cilantro creama as well! I wish this restaurant was open later for late night takeout they close at 7 4/5 stars only because the in-restaurant seating wouldn’t have held me. I’m a heavier person 250+ and didn’t have any seating options while waiting only flimsy folding chairs. I recognize however that this is a very new business and they are just getting started. I’ll continue being a take-out customer, however look forward to returning in person and updating my review once seating is improved in the future. Vegetarian options: Great veg empanada!
