Different spin on brunch with a Spanish twist. Good location, pleasant ambiance/service and nice decor. Great cocktails, well presented charcuterie and cheese board. Love the Manchego cheese but the pickled grapes were not appreciated by all. I personally think they were interesting, salty and definitely sour. It was a nice discovery and I enjoyed them. The Soca Kitchen offered us an interesting menu with fresh ingredients and tasty food. Who orders an entire fried fish for brunch?!? My friend sure did and ate the entire thing. It was simply delicious!
The staff and service was great: friendly, efficient. Cocktail Fusion Mojito was super yummy, $15. The bread was ok, I would not get it again. Otherwise: entrees and desert were perfect. The ambiance was warm, quiet though an almost full restaurant, very nice. Highly recommend!
I have finally made some time to visit a restaurant I have been excited to try since I saw them move to their new location on Beechwood. The Soca Kitchen is this little sophisticated restaurant with the flavours of Venezuela and Spain. The simple but elegant decor matches the amazing food and drinks. The staff were so delightful, and attentive. I was very happy with my first experience. I asked the staff to "surprise me" with their favourite drink and was brought a delicious passion fruit mojito, jealous? I was also very excited to try their beet salad, it was served in wedges topped with pickled onions, toasted walnuts and an amazing balsamic dressing, what great flavours. I was also recommended the Carne Asada beef tacos and the Venezuelan braised chicken tacos. I LOVED them, the ingredients were fresh, delicious and well portioned. Little fun fact about The Soca Kitchen, they share space with another restaurant I am eager to try, Plantain Cartel can't wait to go back. If you are looking for a nice date night or fun ladies night, they are a must try!! #ottawafoodiestalker #supportlocal
We really enjoyed our dining experience at Soca. The food, service and ambience were great! The beet salad, sour dough bread w/tomato, yucca fries and ceviche were delicious. We also had the Huevos en cacerola which was good but was a surprisingly small serving. We will probably come back to try the tacos and other menu items next time.
Very nice to have in the neighbourhood! They really helped make my husband's birthday special, accommodating several requests. The only small thing is that I wish they had more sauce on their cauliflower tacos! But we'll definitely be back.
4.5 stars Drinks are amazing. Food was very good. Ambience was relaxing. Service was great. Although costly would recommend for a special night out.
Nice atmosphere and decor. Place gets crowded quickly as it is a great spot and space could be a problem for big crowds during cold weather. The food is delicious, the tamarind mojito cocktail which was a first to me is also great. Staff is courteous and patient so no complaints here. I'd recommend for brunch and dinner.
Amazing place, service and food. First of all, beautiful space where they also have a small market with gourmet products to go. Second, wonderful service! Went above and beyond to make us feel taken care of. Last but not least, the food is fantastic! Everything was delicious. We had the Chef’s board for 2, the Octopus plancha and the Dulce de Leche mousse. Definitely our new favourite restaurant. Five stars no doubt.
The food at the Soca Kitchen was excellent and the service was great as well. We got several dishes from each section to share between our group of 4, and we found that each dish came with its own unique set of delicious flavours. We especially enjoyed the pisco sour, the ceviche and the tres leches cake at the end. Overall a great meal, great service and at a reasonable price!
We were looking forward to dine here since 8 months ago. We finally had the opportunity tonight. We ordered guacamole: it was regular as the one you get in metro but more expensive; Octopus salpicón: this one was good specially because of the squid ink, the amount served was small; cochinitapibil tacos: these were far from what cochinitapibil supposed to taste; fish tacos: were tasty and crunchy, but is just a deep fried small piece of fish; tamarindo drink: I thought I was about to have natural tamarindo drink but it was a soda tamarindo flavor; Dulce de Leche Mousse, Guava, Pistacho: there is no guava at all in this dessert and it was just a regular yogurt with granola at the top. The portions and flavor do not justify the cost at all, expensive with no flavor.
