To begin with, for people that do not have time to read my below whole review details, AVOID AT ALL COSTS USING TIPPET-RICHARDSON LIMITED (TR) for your moving. This was my first and the worse international moving experience. I've chosen to go with them in the first place because they are member of Allied Van Lines and they were the ones that Allied sent me into when I initially called them for my international move. After some research, it looks like TR has been in bussiness for a while and 'seems' okay. I was dealing with the Montreal branch but couldn't find any reviews about this specific branch but I went with it anyways as the agent was friendly and my quoted price was reasonable in addition that I don't have much time to look for more companies and quotes before my planned moving date. The nightmare starts after having confirmed with the agent (Jeffrey) that I will be using them as my moving company. No communication from the agent by emails. I HAVE to call him to get any response. Otherwise keep on waiting for days or week without a reply. Even if I called the agent will say that he will provide my request details by email. But as mentioned earlier, he does NOT use his email. So I did not get it unless I call him for a SECOND time asking where was the information I needed. Dealing with this type of unresponsiveness and unprofessionalism, I tried contacting the main office in Toronto for an agent switch. A maybe manager of the head office (Sandra Lauzon) replied to my email once asking for more details and then ignored further emails after I provided more details. Contacted the chat support, twice. Once the agent said he will set a callback to my concern but I never got any call back. Second time the agent knows pretty much nothing. I asked about who’s the right person to contact for this matter and she said she can’t even provide that?? Absolutely zero support. Montreal’s branch has NO local manager. Once it’s a discussion about concerns’ they either ignore you or say don’t know. When received my invoice, the price was way off from the initial estimate. Ended up wil $1000 more than the in house quote. And the final invoice was told to me that’s in USD! That’s was freaking huge difference in price with the conversion rate at that time. I was ready to escalate this whichever I can if it really happened as I was initially quoted in CAD, in addition that I’m in Canada and never heard local shipping companies charge in USD. At the end it was another agent that ended up taking care of my case as I was getting very impatient and calling to get all the information and dispute about this unresponsiveness. Whenever I asked to talk to the agent that is supposed to handle my case, they simply said that he’s not there and they will take care of it instead. My initial agent that is supposed to talk to me just went missing completely to the point that he does not even answer to calls. I did not feel safe of my shipment and moving process due to the agent’s unresponsiveness, ignoring emails and how it was handled overall. This is an added stress to my international move and not as Allied advertising "Relax, we carry the load", TR being an Allied member. Fortunately, the destination agent is VERY responsive so far every time I contact them. It is a REAL Allied Van Lines office agent that handles my shipment at destination unlike TR which is not. After I have received my shipment, the local Allied agents told me that fragile (glass, ceramics, dishes, etc.) were not labeled and should have a red tag. This resulted in damaged items. I contacted the Montreal branch again about this and to no surprise, they now TOTALLY ignored me. Unless they rectify this situation and be responsible enough to speak to me directly, I'll post wherever I can over the internet to let people know about their unprofessionalism so there will be no other victims. With the moving season coming in, for your moves, do yourself a favor and avoid TR if you don’t want added stress to your already stressful moving.
