Finally we came to the first location of “Tim Horton”! It’s so nice to see their history and memories. Miles Gilbert "Tim" Horton opened the first store to support his hockey salary in the off season, May 17, 1964. He died untimely death by drunken driving, aged 44. ***I wish this first location has Maple Dip Donuts all the time. My sister and friends from Japan LOVED it when they traveled Canada, so please!
It was nice to finally visit the first Tim Hortons and also check the small museum they have upstairs. The place was really clean and was the first time I saw a locker pickup in a Tim unit. Although it was a Sunday morning, the place wasn’t crowded and it was easy to get a seat to enjoy the coffee. There is a parking on the side and the neighbourhood is great. Totally worth to pay a visit to them and explore the city afterwards.
I was excited to go to the original Tim Hortons, but was a bit let down by the sanitation of the building. The bathrooms were not stocked with toilet paper or soap, and the floor was wet. I couldn't find a table that was clean. There were crumbs or coffee marks on each table. And when I exited the building I stepped littered Tim Horton tea bags. They have a neat display upstairs of the history of Tim Hortons , other than that there was nothing spectacular about this visit.
Must go here if you are a fan of Tim’s!!! They have an awesome little museum on the upper level displaying lots of cool vintage and retro artifacts and displays sorted by decade! Very cool memorabilia, I loved seeing it. It was exciting seeing old roll up the rim cups I remember seeing back in the days! And the old treats they used to have, bring back the “butterfly”! And a statue outside depicting Tim Horton in his hockey attire! Aside from this being a very cool location to visit, it’s still a Timmies at the end of the day, so you know I got my coffee on!
Cool to visit. Unfortunately they don't sale any souvenir about the first store. Upstairs should be cleaned up more often. Parking: There's a parking lot but tiny.
Great experience to see all things about Tim Horton’s and how the restaurant was originally. The different donuts looked very tasty as well as the different mug designs. People should really see the restaurant’s humble beginnings. Learn about the business and its creative changes over time.
We were in the area and surprisingly bumped into this one. It's just Tim Hortons store but what makes it special is that 'it's the first one'. Do not forget to check out their memory lane on upper level.
First Tim Hortons Coffee Shop . A fun small museum on the upper level of the shop shows the history of Tim's. Interesting to look at the old mugs and the "Roll Up the Rim display. The staff was polite but not overly friendly.Food: 5/5
Though I didn't grow up with Tim Hortons in the Midwestern U.S., I've been to Canada many times and am aware of the ubiquity of the company in the Great White North. Therefore, it was fun to visit the site of the original store note that the original building is no longer there while I was in Hamilton. Outside the building is a statue of Tim Horton from his time with the Leafs. There is also a plaque discussing his life and his foundation's work with children. The main level is a standard Tim's, save for the additional souvenir items signifying this store's significance as the first location. The upper level is a museum tracing the history of the company through the decades, with displays of old uniforms, packaging, and promotional items. There are also televisions with short videos further discussing the company's meteoric rise to prominence. This is a fun stop for anyone who loves Tim Hortons.
This is a typical Tim Hortons located at the Barton street in the downtown Hamilton. The first thing you would notice if you go there is the outlook of the building. The architecture is beautiful, it's a big place. They have ample parking spaces. I liked the building and the way its been decorated. The staffs were nice and friendly. I noticed that there was no drive through option here, which was not an issue for me, but for others that might be convenient. I would definitely recommend this place.
