When our school decided to perform 'Sense and Sensibility', we knew one of the most crucial elements to the success of the production would be the costumes. Having worked with them before on 'A Christmas Carol' in 2018, I immediately thought to call Theatrix Costume House. What an amazing experience it is working with Gina and Theatrix to get the costumes ready for our theatrical productions! Not only was Gina a pleasure to work with, her and her team are exceptionally thorough. Aside from cast measurements, we had very specific criteria for this show; from the time period, to the colour palette, to a list of required accessories. Gina and her design team found and created! beautiful costumes for our entire cast. We were very fortunate to be able to perform our show before the rise of Omicron, and even though the cast was masked, the costumes transported everyone in the audience back in time to a place of escape. That's what theatre is all about and Theatrix helped make that a reality. The costumes were certainly the other stars of the show!
We rented costumes for our medieval themed wedding and the staff were so pleasant and helpful, they made it such a pleasurable experience. It was our first time renting from a costume house so we weren't sure what to expect. We were just so blown away by the beautiful costumes and their great attention to detail. The costumes were even tailored to fit perfectly! I will gladly recommend Theatrix for any costumed event. 5 stars!
I have worked with Theatrix Costume House for many years. Gina and her team are so great to work with! They are very accommodating and flexible. The costumes are fantastic and really make my shows look so much better! I look forward to continue working with them on our future productions!
Such nice staff who are willing to adjust the costumes to fit you perfectly. They have lots of helpful suggestions to find the perfect ensemble. Please be considerate and do make an appointment though, so they can take the time to help you properly.
Did not have what I was looking for, which is fine, but the *extremely* hard sell on costumes that were in no way related to what I was looking for, and the subsequent attitude and snootiness given when I said that I didn't want them was not appreciated *at all*. Your desperation is showing, ma'am, and it's certainly not the customer's fault that you don't have what they are looking for Think "a concentrated version of everything you hated about your high school drama teacher". Plus, you can't just rent a costume for a day or two for an event. A minimum week's rental of a pair of mechanic coveralls for $150 is just ridiculous. I could just buy 2 new pairs of coveralls for the same price, and still have money left over. I left this place with such a bad taste in my mouth about both the business and service that I'll drop my usual biting of my tongue and go out of my way to recommend to people that they not patronize this shoddy spot.
Our school in northern Alberta has worked with Theatrix several times and we are never disappointed!! They work with us to create an amazing costume design for whatever show we are doing. I highly recommend them for any costume needs.
What can I say ..Working along side Gina and her Team, was truly amazing, very professional and a great attitude to match. With it being my first year in my new role , when it came to costumes I needed for productions . I knew who I was going to make a call to.... THEATRIX COSTUME HOUSE !!! Thank you once again Gina and her team !
I would suggest taking significant caution with ordering a custom-build costume from Theatrix. My order was 11 days late, I had to keep chasing them to work on it, it did not include everything in the agreement, and I was not happy with the quality of final product with parts of it even starting to fall apart the first time it was worn. I am extremely displeased with the lack of any response when I alerted my concerns with the final product. Even though the event has passed, I would have been receptive to even have them fix/improve the costume accordingly so it could at least be worn in the future. While there are some nice people who work there and they do have a good selection of rental costumes reason I didn't give a one star, their process to make the costume and final costume result was quite poor - especially for the price point of just under 2K. ie. Some people thought I might have made it myself. There should be greater pride in their workmanship and final product - especially when a customer has been nothing but respectful and extremely flexible with delays and the outcome. I do not like calling out small businesses generally, but I don't think others should deal with the same problems I did. In my email to the owner: "I felt like I was chasing folks for each next step and follow-up of the process. I also reached out a couple of weeks before Halloween because I got super concerned I would have nothing and started to plan a potential alternative on my end. I know Halloween is a busy time but this costume was ordered and a deposit was made at the end of August for an Oct 20 completion date. I had purposely come in well in advance for this very reason. The day I came in for just the shell fitting I played it cool because I just wanted the final product and didn't want to cause additional stress. When I came in again to have a look at the costume I was fairly upset. It looked like a basic body suit and wore like a ski jacket on top. This is when it was discussed to give the costume some definition like in the photos and I provided additional feedback. The costume was still being finished on Oct 31 when I got there literally sewing etc on me while I tried on the costume and delayed Halloween plans that night. I feel like XXXXX tried but was rushed to complete everything and is why the process and result were what they were. For the final result the legs were not padded in proportion to rest of body. The claws seemed to possibly be finished on Halloween day as they were still wet and left marks and stained anything I touched from door handles, to the costume itself, and those around me. They were also to be made out of rubber for a more realistic effect but they were some sort of fabric based. The spider image on the chest was 10 legs instead of 8. The "webbing" around the costume was already falling off when the costume was put on and I went to buy a sewing kit at the 7-11 to try to put it back on. I ended up spending the entire night holding the webbing against my torso with one hand to keep it on. The white shell and the black outer part separated right away and the white shell was highly visible looking like a thick undershirt. One of the foot/shoe straps came off within minutes of being out. All of this occurred either when I put the costume on or shortly after just simply walking down the street."

Zero stars wasn't an option. This place is trash! The woman who I suspect owns this farce of a business has the conversational skills of an angry toddler. Their hours state they're open on Saturdays and I've been met with locked doors and rude, terse conversation every time I call to confirm. I'm a performer who had genuine interest in purchasing something from this company, but now I just want to inform any would-be customers that you'll be wasting your time and money going here. This woman should close up shop and learn something about customer service before she endeavors to "open her doors" to the public. Clowns! Lol
