The Village Inn

We've eaten here twice in the past month. Menu is traditional but food is good. Beer selection is solid, including some offerings from Manantler, which is right around the corner. The space is small but cozy. Service was good the first time we went and excellent the second time - the bar tender served us and was very attentive and personable. Parking is reasonable. We'll be going back for sure!

Food and service was great especially for a Sunday night when only 1 server was on she did amazing. I'd go back in a heart beat. Great local beers!

Good menu and very accommodating staff! They even got their big screen working so we could watch the game during out upstairs event! Very good old style pub atmosphere.

The food and beer was great but our tall, blonde, middle aged waitress (who didn't give us her name) was absolutely horrific. I went for dinner around 5 with my mother and my 4 month old. After realizing instantly our stroller was not going to fit up the front entrance, and nor was I going to wrestle my stroller up 6 or 7 stairs and around a tight corner we simply went around up the patio. We grabbed a table on the relatively empty patio and my mother informed the waitress that we couldn't get through the front so we were on the patio. This waitress then yelled at my mother and berated her, huffing, rolling her eyes and saying we *had* to come through the front. After that she came out to the patio where her other three tables were clearly irritated with her. Another man noted to us she'd been ignoring him the whole time he'd been there. He had two empty glasses on his table and was trying to order another drink. When she finally brought that out she left all the dishes on his tables and huffed and rolled her eyes (seems to be her trademark) when he asked for her to take them and snatched them away from him then stormed inside. Shockingly she became somewhat pleasant when it came one for us to decide how much to tip... Hope I never see this woman again.

Great selection of craft beer, good pub food, and a unique setting make this a must stop if going out for a pint in Bowmanville.
