About Taft summer school program. It is horrible. With such a good staffs and facilities you could not do a worse summer program. Daily routine coupled with horrible organisation of activities (on weekends there are 8 free hours on wich you can do absolutely nothing, except talking to your friends and waiting.) all this stuff lasts 5 weeks and it costs 10 000$ I would like to admit very kind and skillful in their subjects teachers, but they can't help your absolute boredom. There are also some little stupidities wich also ruin whole expirience even more. For instance, there is such thing as a Study Hall. It is just 2 hours of "doing" homework on wich you can only leave your room if you go to bathroom or if you have a SPECIAL PERMISSION to go to the computer class or to the library. --Conclusion Wasting 5 weeks of your summer on this school it absolutely unvorthy, especially for 10 000$

I am a parent of a Junior. My child began there her Freshman year and there is no higher praise that I can give to an educational institution. Nothing in life is perfect, but, as most situations, it is what you make it (referring to a prior post). My child is multiracial and we have found nothing but support, acceptance with open arms and a strong dedication to building student's minds with a 360 emphasis on the whole mind. I have absolutely every confidence that with the education my child has received here, she will continue to soar in life. Thanks Taft!

My experience as a student at Taft has been remarkable. The school, while it does have an incredible campus, thrives on its students. The students at Taft set it apart from any other boarding school in New England because of their spirit in the dorms and cheering on teams at the athletic fields. Oh did I mention the academics are great too? -Class of 2013

I think you really have to weigh the good with the bad here. Are you going to be swamped with work and at times stressed to the max? Absolutely. Taft academics are tough, rigorous, and time consuming. The education is absolutely priceless and puts you well ahead of the curve when you enter college. Really it is the fantastic community that keeps everyone sane. The "all-in-this-together" sense of camaraderie creates an extremely tight-knit community. It certainly isn't for everyone, but it will definitely give you back what you put into it. Are you going to run into the occasional spoiled rotten rich kid? Sure, but for every spoiled brat are five fantastic, intelligent, kind, and insightful students. Give the school a chance and don't get too caught up with preconceived notions of what a prep school is and you will find a thriving community. My only irk is that the LGBT community here is looking a bit sparse. Being one of the only openly gay kids is a bit isolating, but the school appears to be getting better. I never faced any harassment for my sexuality, and the students were all very respectful. Taft is a lifestyle; some thrive in it, others crack under the pressure. Can you take the heat?
