The St Paul Grill is a classic fine dining experience. We had a very good experience overall, however the food fell just a bit short of the 5 star experience we were hoping for. My wife's trout and beet salad were good not great. My pot pie was exceptional and our guests enjoyed their meals. The waitress was very attentive. We had a couple of misses on the taste of the drinks. They replaced one without question. I will still recommend this place, we just had higher expectations based on the price.
Had lunch at The Saint Paul Grill today. Always a special treat. Our group ordered crab cake, salmon, and the black and blue burger. We followed up with the apple crisp for dessert. The quality was top-notch. The only request is for two crab cakes like they used to not just one. The restaurant was hopping--a vibrant energy but not too loud. I wish I got the server's name because he did such an awesome job. Attentive, genuine, and polite. Overall another fantastic experience at The Saint Paul Grill!!
Whenever we are in town, we have lunch or dinner at the St. Paul Grill in the Saint Paul Hotel. The restaurant is elegant, and the staff is top notch. The food is well-prepared and delicious. During our latest visit for lunch, we had the walleye pike and a BLT with fries. Both were very good.
I'm happy The St. Paul Grill is open again! The vibe is vibrant with a steady rhythm of a well trained staff. Service was top notch and the food was excellent both in presentation and on the palate. We ordered a dozen oysters, onion soup, a wedge salad, scallops, filet mignon, and a burnt creme brulee, along with a couple of martinis... everything was perfect. One thing to note - acoustically it is a little loud so if someone in your party is hard of hearing this place may be difficult for them.
The St. Paul Grill offers an exemplary dining experience and our server Lindsey was fantastic! We ordered a variety of food and drinks which ranged from appetizers and mixed drinks to steaks and martinis. I ordered the 18 oz new york strip medium rare. The steak had a nice smokey char on the outside and it was cooked perfectly. We also got a few sides which were calamari, fries, and onion rings. The portions on the sides and appetizers were quite large so it was easy to share them at the table with others. We finished the night off with creme brulee and it was executed perfectly. The top had that iconic crunch and the custard was smooth and tasty. Our party of four spent around $500 so keep in mind that it is easy to run up a tab here, but this is somewhere that you come to enjoy yourself and have a good time!
The staff at The St Paul Grill went over and above to make a wonderful date night! The Service was wonderful:  The Oysters & Lobster were amazingly delicious!!  And the Steaks were cooked to perfection!! That evening and fabulous meal made us remember why we loved taking our Family to the St Paul Grill year after year for our Holiday Tradition! We can’t wait to come back again in December
Filet was perfectly cooked and had great flavor. The Brussel sprouts were crispy while not being over cooked. The Au gratin potatoes were amazing as well, super creamy. I didn’t care for the sangria but that is more of a pallet issue than an issue with the drink they served. The service was pleasant and quick and I look forward to going back.
Our meal was flawlessly executed for every course. Bread basket to start: bread was soft and well baked. Split a carsar salad-- they brought it out on two plates for us. Well dressed, and the house-made croutons practically melt in your mouth. Steaks were perfectly cooked , sauces perfectly prepared. Hashbrowns are described as for 3-4 people, and i think that checks out-- we went home with more than half. There was nothing wrong with the hashbrowns, but by far, my favorite was the onion rings - thick cut, thick breading, perfectly crisp all the way through. 5 rings was plenty for 2 people, but I would feel deprived sharing with more than 3. The jalapeno aioli was delicious. I would go back just for the onion rings. Nothing sparked our interest on the dessert menu going in in that particular evening, but I'm not sure we could have made room anyway.
The food quality definitely took a hit after the pandemic. However, the level of service remains very good. Our group went here for dinner part of Restaurant Week. The interesting thing about the special Dinner menu is: a choice of salad, steak no other option for entree, and dessert. If you're vegetarian, vegan or pescaterian, you must order a la carte. The Sorrentino cocktail was very nice, the Seafood Stew was not memorable. I have had better bouillabaisse or cioppino elsewhere. Our friends enjoyed their Restaurant Week menu. Thanks Mary for the excellent service.
This St. Paul fine dining staple opens its doors again for dinner after a long hiatus and it’s just as good as ever! Wonderful atmosphere whether in the classic dining room or the gorgeous bar. The attention to detail on the entrées leaves one spoiled for choice to the point that you’ll feel you’ll have to come back soon to try the other option from the two you’ll undoubtedly be agonizing over. So… I did just that. Day 1 was the KC strip, which was pricey, but perfectly prepared. Day 2 was the Shrimp Scampi, which is served without any pasta, but is quite filling and the sauce is the most balanced and flavorful scampi variant I have ever tried. You can’t go wrong with surf and/or turf. Also pictured is the Filet Oscar from another recent visit. I’m eagerly awaiting their lunch reopening so that I can return to eating more of the food that I have grown to love over the past 20 years! Other foods pictured: Oysters, Calamari, Chicken Wild Rice Soup, Complimentary Bread, Banana Cream Pie, Chocolate Torte,
