Riverdale's best kept secret is an eco-cafe called The Social Gardener, providing a working model of change that is responding to emerging social and environmental issues with community economic development and civic co-operation.
The Social Gardener Cafe invites the public into the entire building, the Riverdale Hub; home to an immigrant women's centre, open concept/private work spaces, meeting rooms, event space, recreational studio, copy centre, community kitchen, rainwater garden, rooftop garden; all which runs under a 90% energy efficient model. This becomes a playground to plant ideas and grow meaningful work.
