Good food takes time, be patient. But once it comes you will be pleased. Haven’t been here for years, it’s better than I remember. While spice isn’t my passion, there was enough pepper to quell my desire and they could add more so the dish could “bite you back”. Friendly owners, remind me of my grandmum to the point I kept calling her “ma’am”. Worth the drive.
Where do I start? I went on the site and read a lot of bad reviews but had to try it for myself. I ordered chicken roti and chicken buss up shot, thank goodness I only got the buss up shot and curry chicken. It was rather pricey but I was ok with that as there are not many options for Trini Roti in the city. I was impressed the buss up shot was made fresh but had no flavor and lack of salt. The curry as mentioned in other reviews was watery and had a bit of a sour meat taste that was masked by pepper sauce what a disappointment
Ordered their doubles. They were $5 each. Overall it was okay. I’ve had better doubles before. The roti didn’t have the right texture and the chickpea filling flavour was very subtle. But service was fast and friendly!
I got a large goat roti today for the first time at this location. I'm from Toronto so I've been looking for a real good place to get food like this here in Calgary. My food was very very good ! Will definitely be back no doubt.
Very bland and the service was disappointing. I felt discriminated here. I am a petite asian, but I’ve had many Jamaican Trinidadian food in Toronto. I asked the lady how big their portion and how spicy their food. She looked at me from head to toe and scoffed at me as I couldn’t eat a lot and handle spicy. I asked for medium spicy because she made me that I couldn’t handle spicy but my bf, who’s also asian, ordered extra spicy. Our food was tasteless. It was either her food was just mediocre or she was being racist to us.
Added 3-4 more shrimp a little rice and whala you have a $20 pepper shrimp meal that I will never order again. I'm not happy to leave this review especially when it comes to my cultures food but this is really bad this should not be on your menu especially at that price when it comes like this. Please do better roti hut and make the Caribbean community in Calgary proud. JULY, 7 ,2020 -UPDATE update coming to see if these 5 stars are really worth it. have they changed? is there a new cook? are they skimping on portions sizes? the truth will will be told but one thing for sure no pepper shrimp for me unless they have started using real shrimp not the baby one dem.
Awful! I grew up with Trini food. The roti was heavy, and doughy. It should have been flaky and light/soft. Although the goat was tender, the spices were all wrong. It was terrible. Couldn’t finish it. The lady who I assume owns it, was very nice, personable. But I’m sorry to say I won’t be returning.
Owner is very disrespectful. Very stingy with the chicken . Talking about chicken expensive. Very very bad and poor customer service. For almost 17$ food is not worth it .
I wish I had bothered to read reviews before trying this place for the first time. I never write reviews but it was so bad, it drove me to caution others. I ordered the jerk chicken. I got four small pieces that were 90% bones drowned in a spicy BBQ sauce. I haven't had a lot of carribean food but I'm dead certain this wasn't right. This was not jerk chicken. Save your hard earned money, and the immense disappointment.
My first time visiting this place for a chicken roti, and the curry chicken was watery. The woman was very rude and not friendly. The small chicken roti was very pricey, and I didn't even get to eat the food because it was not good.
