Edmonton's first Olde English Pub. Open since 1977. Great staff. Awesome location and beer. Delicious food!!
When pubs first made an appearance in Edmonton, it was The Rose & Crown Pub in 1978 that led the way. The pub saw celebrities, sports figures and notable Edmontonians pass through its wooden doors. It was Edmonton’s first ‘stand-up bar’ where customers were actually allowed to stand up at the bar and drink; before that, Alberta Liquor Laws required you to sit down, order a meal and drink your pint. History was made and a long legacy began.
Many a pint were drafted amid the cacophony of lies and tall tales at The Rose & Crown, accompanied by the tinkling din of Don Johnston’s piano. The Rose was also Edmonton’s first sing-along bar, complete with song sheets and chants of “sociable!” as pints were lifted in salute.
The Rose & Crown Pub has a great selection of draft beers, scotches and a hearty menu of British pub fare sprinkled with their signature Indian dishes.
