a nice cafe but food was below our expectations considering the price. the eggs benedict were served cold and the frittata lacked of spices. coffee wasn't included in already expensive plate. sweets look quite good but we didn't get the chance to try them out :
The Rhododendron Cafe is downstairs in the Inn at Virginia Mason where we were staying for a procedure. We dined there several times during our stay and each meal was delicious.
A marvelous little brunch secret that is great for a leisurely relaxing conversation time without the typical wait times at popular brunch locations. They have a limited menu with a wide variety of flavor profiles and textures. A nice option for weekday lunch and dinner as well providing a great value most especially when compared to typical restaurant choices.
Came down here for a quick breakfast and it was great. Simple, tasty, not expensive. Our female server was so nice, even though it was a busy morning.
Decent food that is dragged down by really sub par service. Had to ask for water after 20 minutes of everyone's glass being empty, it was filled once, and we never saw more water. Really horrible timing with the food, where everyone's salad and entree arrived at once, and the table became completely overcrowded. With an empty restaurant the waitress was remarkably un-attentive.
Great service, delicious food. The place is small and cozy nestled in the lobby of the inn. It's a tad pricey but it's worth the money. I ordered french toast with a side of sausage and had coffee to drink. The french toast was amazingly fluffy and had some tangy fruity sauce and cranberry garnish. It came with warmed syrup that I dipped each bite in. It wasnt a meal I was left feeling full but very, very satisfied.
My mother and I were at the hotel all week for her procedures, and the RC, was a huge blessing. The day crew and night crew both exceptional. Very customer oriented and knew the menu. Very accommodating and the food was SO fresh! Home made soups, BLT to die for, scallops I had them twice, and salmon with fresh veggies Moms fav Highly recommend. This is Virginia Masons best kept secret! If you are stuck at the hospital, definitely visit this adorable, old world charm cafe. Thank you Patrick & Chelsea!
Nice servers and nice food except I prefer fish not poached. Good salad bar and fresh baked cookies. Hot soups and on Fridays Ivar's clam chowder white New England style. Nice but would like red Manhattan style sometime. I like the toasted cheese sandwich. You can also get burgers, hot dogs and fries. Take out orders. Cardboard containers tend to leak so green bag at checkout recommended. Nice dining area but crowded at noon lunch hour. Fresh fruits seasonally. Look around for daily items. Menu sheet near entrance.
absolutely love this restaurant! My favorite item is the shrimp and grits. Shrimp and Grits run out quickly because they are so good, so I try to show up before 11am anytime I come for brunch. There is a wide variety on the Monday-Saturday breakfast menu, but the Sunday brunch is slightly smaller. I love that the wait staff seem to have built friendly relationships with the guests who stay in the hotel, also the amount of compassion they show to the hospital guests who are stressed, sick, or grieving. The wait staff are dressed professionally referring to a comment the gentleman in the last review who appeared to be shaming the appearance of the staff lastly, the prices of the meals are actually pretty good if you consider that the breakfast items all come from local bakeries In the area. I think the gentleman in the prior review is used to Denny’s or iHop prices where they don’t specifically used artisan breads/pastries or care about supporting local business. The prices at Rhodedendron are similar to most hotel restaurants in Seattle.
Great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Really nice to have a good neighborhood option for quiet, casual restaurant. The menu is not pretentious and portions very good. Not a fan of the coffee, a little bitter for my taste, but i'm no connoisseur. The Sante Fe salad is huge and just the right spice, burgers are also tasty, fries good, my wife loves the salmon and usually brings home 1/2 for dinner next night. Save room for deserts!
