The Last Word Bookstore

My favourite used bookstore in the city-- I don't believe I've ever left without finding something that has been on my radar. Wayne, the owner, can always help with recommendations, if you want them. He is an immense cup of literary knowledge, and will runneth over if you allow him (ha!). Some folks say he is a bit particular or gruff, but I like his decisiveness and deliberate nature in his dealings. Don't forget that this shop is cash-only!

Been there a few times, prices not bad. Hard to navigate makes it all the fun like Indiana Jones :) he also lived and work at a local drug store as a delivery boy when I did.. very friendly and knows his stuff..

The books are fairly over priced for what some of them are and the store is very messy. I tried to bring books in to see if the owner would be interested in buying but he looked at me and without looking at the books, told me that he only takes "literature". If you like mass market crime and sci-fi books, there are some great finds but if you're looking for YA-there isn't any- don't bother.

He's always good to chat with and generally friendly. Knows his local and regional history. On the level walking and bike riding route to Quinpool & Downtown from the North End.

Excellent selection. Compacted quarters. Knowledgeable staff member. One of the few treasures.
