The Last Defence Lounge (LDL) is a fully licensed restaurant operated by the Graduate Students' Association of the University of Calgary, and located on the third floor MacEwan Student Centre (MSC 350).

The LDL welcomes the entire University of Calgary community and their guests. Our members include all faculty, staff, undergraduate and graduate students, and all alumni - regardless of the year of graduation.

Minors welcome.
Our Capacity – 181.
Alternate transportation options: LRT, Taxi, Uber, Keys Please, Safewalk

Tried chicken buffalo wrap with caesar salad as the side. The portion was almost big and the taste was acceptable. I liked it. It's a considerable option for lunch in the campus.

Came to the Last Defense Lounge last time I was here it was the Alumni lounge, Order a pint of Misheard Lyric Nepa that is packed with ripe mango, guava, and sweet citrus flavour and aroma. I order the special tonight half price nachos like all other nachos comes with the regular toppings what set this nachos apart from others is the cilantro pepita sauce. I'm not a fan of cilantro but this sauce is tasty!

I have been to the last defence lounge several times. This restaurant is very busy especially during lunch time. The last time we went we had to wait to be seated although their were at least three empty tables but they needed cleaning. Then the waiter missed taking order and we had to wait quite a lot. However the food was great and price is reasonable. We ordered the salmon platter and veggie sandwich. We mainly went to redeemed non-alcoholic champagne, but they were out of it!

We had our work holiday party at this venue. A separate room was set up nicely, food was delicious, a large variety of allergies and restrictions were addressed, and the service was excellent. Thank you.

I went here after ice skating for a drink with friends. I ordered a beer and a poutine. 20 minutes later, still no beer. Had to remind the server and they brought it out 5-10 mins later. I was not sure if the poutine was coming or not, since they forgot about the beer and I ordered it at the same time as the food. I was about to leave and then the poutine arrived. Definately one of the worst poutines I've ever been served. Fries were cheap, generic ones from a frozen bag, not much gravy or cheese curds. Anyone could make something similar at home for $4, but I paid more than $12. I also had to ask for cutlery to eat it. On top of all that, it was not busy there, so we should not have had to wait that long for the beer 20-30 mins or the food close to 1 hour. Then, the place was about to close down and we still had not gotten our bills. We had to ask the server to bring our bills even though we were the last ones there and they were about to close. I wish the servers were more on top of actually serving. I know it's a tough job, but a lot of that is common sense stuff. I won't be back for food unless it's a weeknight special and I miiiight go there for a beer someday. Tips for the poutine: use fresh fries and deep fry those. Make a better gravy and use more of it all the fries should be covered, and use 4-5x more cheese. If you don't want to pay more for cheese curds, then add a heck of a lot of mozzeralla. A simple google image search of "poutine" will give you a good idea of what you should be going for.

Fantastic service, great ambiance, and good food. The GM and the rest of the staff were very friendly. It’s safe to say that I’m now a regular!

I am biased as I am currently employed there. Nice selection of beer on tap. Regular cocktails. Our awesome bartender is always making something tasty. Clean kitchen, excellent food safety, hygienic staff, with new and changing menu items. With a few favorites.  Pizza, wings, wraps. We are vegetarian, GF, dairy free friendly too.

Decently good food. It's always fun to join in on trivia night!

I have been here many times. Their staff is very good, food is well presented, great taste, and a good selection of drinks.  I’d recommend going for pub style God’s at this place.  Overall great place and great service. Well worth for the price you pay for.  They have a free pool table as well.
