Absolutely disgusting. Needs to be shut down.
The mattress looked like somebody had been killed on it. Covered in something dark red dripping onto the frame. It took two hours to get hold of the management who asked up "what we thought it was" and was hesitant to give us a different room. The room they moved us to was also revolting, the pillows were stained with grease, the floor was covered in black mold due to water damage and never being cleaned. The carpet in the halls also showed water damage. The air was stale and smelled of grease. We decided not to spend a single night in filth. When we asked for a refund the owner refused and became belligerent. Only after I informed him that I had taken photos did his tune change.
The building is beautiful, but the owners do not care about cleanliness, service, or basic human decency.

Very cool place, friendly people stay here. Breakfast was great and evening drinks were excellent. Would stay again. Not your typical hotel

Right down by the water! Beautiful view at sunrise! The Whole place is like the ol time saloon/hotel type feel! Rooms are super adorable and cozy.

I reserved a room at the Kewaunee Inn as part of a wedding party. It was a curious and slightly charming historic building. The room had an awful musty smell, a half dozen pieces of framed wall art that contained disturbing imagery, a porcelain doll in the corner, topped off by a terrible room layout; both hotel room windows faced a brick wall 3 feet away. This hotel is more of a "novelty" due to its haunted past than a road side oasis. My wife and I quickly checked out due to the repulsive hotel room. We left that evening and requested a refund. We were caught completely off guard because of all the positive online reviews. The manager agreed to the refund. No refund was actually given on my credit card. It was only charged. Knowing my case spoke for itself, I was diligent to keep my communication calm and civil. I spent the next two months calling the hotel 3-4 times a week politely requesting an update for the refund. I was given a myriad of excuses and stall tactics by the manager. The manager even stated that he had passed off this issue to the woman who took care of the finances, and that a check had been mailed to me. No check arrived. I called the woman two weeks later, she was never instructed to mail a check, in fact, she had never heard of my refund case. She even said that the room was booked later that evening. The hotel didn’t lose any money from my cancelation, instead, they double dipped. She was able to take care of my refund right then and there after 2 months of persistence. Please use caution as you consider this hotel. I was not going to leave a negative review until I spoke with the woman and found out I had been lied to. I have not encountered this level of unprofessional cowardice in a business before.
