My wife and I ate here during our anniversary trip and it was pretty good. We ordered drinks of course and those were really good. Her's was a frozen drink and mine was a regular cocktail, but both were fancy and large which was good for the price. I ordered the bison burger and asked for medium rare, but got RARE. The inside of my burger was so raw in the middle I only ate half. The chips were very good and fresh. My wife got the coconut shrimp, she said it wasn't very coconut flavored, but still really good. She got the rice since she didn't want fries and it had some weird flavor, so she didn't eat it, but the shrimp was good. I think the restaurant itself was nice. Beautiful view of the lake and friendly staff. I would recommend this place, just would make sure to tell them how you want your burger and check it before taking a bite.
Would probably be a 4 star many places because of the service and steak but for this area a 5... Walleye both fried and battered were great. Large portions and tasty. White fish was good but the Steak, a large portion but not very good. Nice abviance. Service was a bit odd... waitress was anxious for us to leave even though the service was slow and we ordered appetizer and large meals and several drinks. No complaints about slow service, just a note... we were enjoying our friends at dinner and taking our time. Lots of interesting beer selections. Would go back hopefully a different waiter or waitress.
We’ve been staying at a local AirBnB for the last week and a half - The Hook Lakeside Grill is easily the best restaurant we’ve visited in Mackinaw City. Open and airy dining spaces with contemporary decor and music, impeccable service, and legit seafood. I trained waiters for restaurants for years - I mean it when I say their service is on point: drinks within minutes, salads fresh and at the table in good time, entrees served hot and to the correct seat at the table, consistent follow up and table clearing, knowledgeable waitstaff - all functioning as a team. We were a party of five, dining out to treat my mother-in-law - we had salads, entrees, bar drinks, wine, and desserts - all perfect. I travel quite a bit, and the seafood was on par with any high quality seafood I’ve had anywhere. Salmon, walleye, fried shrimp, grilled shrimp - all cooked perfectly and full of flavor. After spending a day in the cramped and crowded restaurants over on the island, this spacious and contemporary atmosphere was exactly what we needed to unwind after a long day of walking. I appreciate the great dining experience we enjoyed - I both recommend this restaurant and look forward to dining with them again.
Service was good meals not so much. 2 people ordering the same meal received 2 different plates. See images. Both plants cost 49$. Which one is worth paying for? Baked potato was crunchy on the middle.
The lobster roll is absolutely delicious! Added truffle fries to send the meal out of this world! Also had a blueberry lemon Shandy to top it off!!! When we are back in the area we will definitely stop here again! Parking: They have their own private lot. Wheelchair accessibility: Elevator
Ate here one night while traveling from Wisconsin over the bridge and heading down the West Coast to the Dunes. Newer, modern building right on the lakefront with a bunch of seating right by the windows. Atmosphere, service, perch and mussels with bruschetta. The mussels were so good in the bruschetta that we wished we had just gotten two orders of that. The mussels also came with 4 thick, warm slices of bread. The only weird thing from my perspective was the whiskey old-fashioned I ordered. The glass was half full and tasted like it was only whiskey and bitters. Nothing mulled and no sweet or sour soda added. But after a few sips I got over it.
Walleye was awful. I know how walleye should taste and this was the worst piece of walleye I have ever had. Waiter spoke very limited English and had to ask the manager for several answers. Great view, just don't order the walleye and don't expect the staff to speak English and you should be fine.
The view here cannot be beat! Their fresh fish dishes are delicious. Especially the Great Lakes Whitefish broiled in Citrus Pepper...so tasty! My husband enjoys their Pan-Fried Walleye. And, their cocktails are wonderful. It's a great place to stop if you're planning on taking one of the nearby boat tours!
The views from the restaurant where great and I love the maritime theme. Lots of fish options on the menu which is great along with other options for those who aren’t so into the fish. The TVs have the beer options with the keg levels on it to watch which to try before it runs out. A little slow on the service for not being very busy, it did take a while to get a beer. Overall great food and atmosphere, just don’t come here if you are in a rush.
Lunch was great. Quiet setting with a good view. Hamburger and chicken sandwich were nice and juicy. If I’m back in town for lunch or dinner this will be on my list to come back to.
