I have tried this place 3 times. Once I got to eat. Twice the BBQ the boast to have wasn't available. It was supposedly smoking. Last Sunday there was absolutely no food available during my 3 hour visit 1-4pm. I had to go find food, I could not give their yard sale pop up anymore time. Cleaver idea, which I hope catches on. Parking: Free parking at patio level hasn't been a problem but very limited marked handicap parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Not very happy with the property layout. Not wheelchair accessible except the patio. They discourage the use of the street level / Aurora Ave entrance as I have struggled up the hill from parking to find it locked!
Got the 3-meat plate. It's hard to get sausages wrong, but this place rose to the challenge. Both the sausage and the pull pork had no flavor. None. The brisket was a dull color and lacks any distinct flavor. The quesadilla was also unimpressive. It's pretty much something like I would throw together when there's nothing to eat at home .. with tortilla and cheese. It was funny having a dog stare at you while eating. I did contemplate feeding it the rest of my food.
Went to have a night out with my other half and had a great time. Tuesday was open, Mike Night. We threw darts and listened to live music. Not bad good time had by all.Food: 3/5
The Hidden Door is my favorite mom and pop owned bar ever. My boyfriend and I have become frequent visitors here, and the staff and owners of the Door all show us so much love, and always take such good care of us when we’re there. There are a lot of other regulars who have also become familiar faces to us. the customers here are loyal and respectful. The kitchen makes really good brisket & Rose always kills it behind the bar. I cannot say enough good things about Rose. Please go buy drinks from her and tip her $1,000. I got drunk and left my purse in like 5 different places one time, and no one ever touched it. It was always right where I left it. I bring my girlfriends to this bar too because I feel so safe. The Hidden Door is a hidden gem that everyone needs to come check out. Aside from their rad staff, they always have live music or Karaoke happening. Immaculate vibes. 10/10. Don’t be lame and not come here.
Although it's a bit far for me to visit regularly I always enjoy going when I can. It's super laid back and chill. Large outside area with tables and tents to shield ran or sun. Dog friendly, trivia, darts, live music. Not much more you can ask for. The owners know their stuff, have been in the bar scene a long time. Make enough visits and it will certainly become your "Cheers".
First of all, they allow dogs inside and that brings me no end of joy! Came here on a quiet Monday night, the regulars catching up with one another and the staff. The bartender co-owner? was quick to protect her patrons from an overly verbose guest who was not taking hints, which I appreciated. When I asked about dog-friendly foods, she suggested brisket skewers for the dog. They were so tasty I had a hard time giving them up to my doggo! They have a fair selection of local ciders and tasty brisket & stroganoff. Pictures online give it a divvy feel but that's not the vibe. Saving this place to come back when I'm in the area!
This place is excellent. We had the Bar b que meat player. This player was full some tasty meat. The smoke sausage was nice and spicy. The drink was a Hot and Spicy Capt Morgan Rum Drink. On top of that the music was fantastic
Cozy bar, nice people, pool, pinball, and darts. Good prices. Indoor or outdoor seating. What's not to like? Haven't tried the food so can't comment on that.Service: 5/5
Have been going here for dart league and for ECDO bangets. This place I'd awesome, Kelly and her staff are just terrific. Food has always been very very tasty. TV's, Darts, Pool, shuffleboard and live events on different night. This past Sat the Jazz and Blues band was great. Dietary restrictions: I'm allergic to onions and they have always been concerned about my eats...so far all has been absolutely fine
If you like coffee shops and Open Mic nights but also want an alcoholic drink and some food, this is your joint! Music or something Neely every night, art on the walls, couches along with regular tables, and two rad outdoors patios. A hidden gem really. No obnoxious sports on the tele, just good company and doggos.Food: 4/5
