The lobster dinner for $20 is a steal. The shrimp basket was also great. Fresh and delicious. It's a friendly place, but understaffed like everyone. The servers were always smiling and accommodating, we just had to wait longer than anticipated.
I went here in 2019 but want to leave a review - absolutely wonderful and quaint and if I am ever in the area again I will be back. So beautiful and the service was great! Good family spot :
We had the clam chowder, lobster chowder, fried whole belly clam roll and pound and a half of steamers takeout order and it was easily some of the best seafood we’ve ever had. Combine that with the view from eating at the picnic table at Small Cove Park and it just doesn’t get any better than that
3rd strike and your out...fist visit was shortly after the new owners opened a few months ago, so the chaos of us locals was forgiviable. The food quality was not. The cup of 'clam chowder' was straight out of a Cambells soup can. The 'famous fried chicken' consists of a small thigh and a leg part, cole slaw and a biscuit. It was dry, over cooked and came with a tiny plastic cup of old coleslaw. Minus the famous biscuit. When I asked for the bicuit, it was brought quickly. But stone cold. Probably taken off somone else's plate. The wife had the 'Harbor Cafe'' burger. Not really sure what meat it was, but clearly pre-cooked in the morning and reheated in water....then put together on a bun. She couldn't eat it. The frozen jalapeno popper appetizer was decent. The next try was for lunch. Haddock burger. I'm not sure how someone can even make haddock tough, but it was tough. Maybe old fish? Freezer burn? And it had such a strong, old fry oil flavor. The coffee was really good. Last but not least, Brunch today. It's not too difficult to poach an egg. Or is it? Both of mine were raw, like actually raw. My daughters were not much better. When the kind waitress noticed I pushed my raw eggs to the side of the plate, she offered to get me a couple more that were cooked right. She came back with nearly burned, fried eggs. Toast was cold, homefries are right out of the freezer section with not one herb or spice added. The Bloody Mary was pretty good though. Thank God. The waitstaff are wonderful local gals who work hard and probably deal with more than we want to know about. It's a bit embarrassing having a local Cafe' in our fishing village serving poor quality seafood. Well, poor quality food....period.
Unbelievable friendly staff and great service. Awesome lobster. Market prices were the best here by far. But the best thing was the home made onion rings. They were great.
Great lunch on a cold, rainy, windswept day. The haddock chowder was amazing! The fish & chips serving was huge, with large chunks of perfectly cooked fish. A welcome respite on our exploration of Deer Isle.
Vacationing in the area from NJ and came here for lunch on a Sunday! This place sure is busy, and you can tell this is a popular place with the locals. Staff was friendly and the food was delish! My husband loves lobster rolls and he said that this place had it down right! This is the way they should be made! Very happy with our visit here! This is the best lobster roll that we have ever had!
Delicious dinner. Loved our fish tacos and mussels & fries. Nice view of Stonington Harbor from dining room windows.
Great little cafe for breakfast. Had the Western omelette, which was outstanding. The waitress was prompt, courteous and welcoming. The establishment was clean. From my short time there, I gathered this is a local hangout for a lot of the residents in Stonington. Great place will definitely come back on my next visit and would highly recommend for anyone visiting.
A very cute restaurant in Stonington. Absolutely loved the food- got the haddock sandwich with all the works which was so good and tops any other food I had in the area.
