Oh man! Did this place deliver. Not only did the staff provide top notch service but their friendliness and, knowledge of the menu cocktails and pairings elevated a delicious dinner into the sublime. My only regret is that we can't eat here again sooner.
This place is simply great food. For a chef of this quality, the prices are more than reasonable. The location is a bit of a hike, unless you’re staying in Bar Harbor or Deer Isle, but worth it. My group of 6 traveled from Lincolnville 1.5 hours for lunch on opening day, and were rewarded with some of the finest cuisine in Maine. The Lobster Roll and Lobster Pot Pie were heavenly. Definitely recommend the Lobster grilled cheese as well. If you want the best experience, show up hungry and eat well.
The best meal I have had in Maine! We took our parents to this wonderful restaurant. The house rolls are worth the total bill alone. I highly recommend the lobster pot pie and or the daily pasta. The service was exceptional and friendly. Given the quality of the food and the chefs star rating the bill was externally reasonable. Thank you for a lovely night.
Important caveat that this was the first night Acadia House was open. That being said, while the food was delicious, they were clearly struggling with service logistics. All the staff were welcoming and accomedating, and the food was a treat, albeit with somewhat small portions. All three of the cocktails we tried were interesting and enjoyable.
Lobster Benedict was amazing. The oysters were great and the staff was attentive and the views were gorgeous.
Some of the best food I've had in a long time, definitely the best I had in Maine so far - fresh, inventive but not too fancy, good value - what a gem for Stonington! Forget any other place on the island and come here instead and order as much as you can from the menu!
Our final night in Stonington, we were able to get an 8:15 reservation. This place was phenomenal. We were seated at the best table in the house with a view of the water. The staff coached us through a wine selection to compliment our meals. The Salmon and Scallop dishes offered great flavor and a great presentation. We finished our bottle of wine with delicious desserts.
We had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings and it was phenomenal. Every single dish was stunningly presented and delicious. Interesting mix of fresh interpretations of classics, like a deconstructed smoked clam and cod chowder, and more creative original dishes, like charred cabbage with curried hollandaise and "strawberries and peas" for dessert. Staff provided exemplary attentive service without pretension. Looking forward to returning as often as I can.
I cannot begin to explain just how horrible our experience was at Acadia House Provisions. Ordered champagne to start - didn’t have what we wanted so we settled on an alternate bottle. Ordered the mussels - they came cold. Ordered white wine - it came room temperature. The three main dishes my party ordered were pasta with lobster, scallops, and salmon. You guessed it - all came cold. The waitress was very nice but she never came back to check on us so we ate the cold food. She called over this APE, who I assume was the manager. I don’t know for certain because he never introduced himself. He proceeded to literally yell at us and said, and I quote, “so you are saying this is an execution problem”. We kept telling him the food was cold, but he had no interest in listening. He never apologized, just walked away from us. He was a proper jerk. I understand the situation with restaurants being short staffed. We were patient, not in a rush, and happy to wait longer for our food if necessary. Just would have preferred it to be hot. We then got the pleasure of paying the bill. Will never go back!
My boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch while visiting Maine. This was one of the best dining experiences that I’ve had. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the water that you can see from every table. My boyfriend got the mushroom toast and I got the lobster roll. They were both phenomenal. If you’re looking for a great Maine lobster roll, this one was amazing! They have a great atmosphere, wonderful service, and the best food!
