The Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co. (Eastside)

I didn't even know this location was here until recently. For anybody who wants to go to The Great Dane without driving to the west side this the is the place for you. This particular ale house has always been a favorite of mine. Great variety of custom brews for anybody feeling adventurous

We were seated on the upper level, waitress got our drink order, brought the drinks and put in an appetizer order. We then put in our food order. We got our appetizer and waited....the waitress came back 20 minutes after we had put our order in and told us the slip with our order had gotten lost and asked us what we ordered. She didn’t really explain that the order never got started. We waited another 30 minutes, she brought our food...but my food was not the correct order. She had the correct food made and didn’t charge me for my entree, but was not very apologetic and basically seemed to avoid our table. So I was compensated for the getting the wrong order, but not for the delay in getting our food due to the slip being lost. This is my second time at this location...the first time we did not get good service either, but the waitress acknowledged it and tried to make it better. Don’t think I will be going back.

I love this place. Great to sit outside in the summer. Great food, fish frys, burgers, salads (Webster Street Chicken Salad) & they have my wine flavor (Wollershiem Prairie Fume)... it doesn't get much better! 🥂😁👍

Waitstaff was friendly and prompt. Beer was good. I am not sure what was going on in the kitchen though. Only 3 in our party, the restaurant was busy, but it was 5:30pm so expected. 2 of us ordered off the menu no substitutions, no changes, no wacky add-ons. I ordered the special, also no subs, changes, or wacky ad ons. The food arrived 1 1/2 hours after we ordered it. The only thing that was warm was one baked potato. All the food was cold!!! Not warm... cold. The special was Prime Rib, I ordered it medium and it came to the table rare and cold. 2 people in our party had GI issues about an hour later. I would advise people to go elsewhere.

The service is usually bad, but it's the best option up on top of Cottage Grove hill. I've never had good service at the bar here. When ordering drinks, the service I have had was a bit slow and unenthusiastic. Today, when noting I was ordering to-go food, the bar tender asked, "What do you want?" before my "I don't know" prompted her to get a menu. She didn't get me a water while I waited there for 15 minutes, and in the meantime she also forgot someone else's beer order from one of the tables.
