The Elm Cafe

About

We are a family run café, located in the Inner Harbour neighbourhood in beautiful Kingston, Ontario.

Story

Both of us, Logan and Matt, were lucky enough to grow up right here in the beautiful city that is Kingston, Ontario. In 2013 a unique opportunity called us to Ottawa, where Matthew would participate in one of the largest heritage restoration projects in North America- the repair and rebuild of the Canadian Parliamentary buildings. Living in Ottawa took our passion for food and drink to the next level, and Logan had the privilege of working for the brother owned and operated restaurant Fraser Café, where her knowledge and experience in hospitality grew immensely. After two years in Ottawa (and tying the knot!), we began to search for the perfect property for our dream of running a café. The natural choice was to come back to our home town, and in particular the inner harbour. Upon moving day, we were already surrounded by incredible friends and neighbours.

We opened The Elm Cafe with a passion to source our product responsibly and to serve you delicious seasonal fare alongside direct trade coffee from Pilot Coffee Roasters, out of Leslieville in Toronto. We aim to enrich our community by providing a space for people to meet, learn, create, inspire and grow while enjoying some wonderful food and coffee.

Thanks to the never ending help and support from our family and friends, we were able to turn our dream into reality.

We look forward to seeing you!

I heard of the Elm Cafe online and in local magazines and it's been on my to-visit list for a while. In terms of decor and general vibe, the place was great! Delicately beautiful and full of (local) poetry framed all over the walls. It's so nice that The Elm Cafe is integrated into the community and supports the Skeleton Park Arts Festival. Just by over-hearing the chatter around me, I could feel how this spot acted as a place of inspiration and artisitc exchange for the Skeleton Park community. My coffee was absolutely fantastic as well! I would like to see more options in terms of food/treats but for such a small place, it impressed.

My favourite kingston coffee shop! The staff are wonderful, the coffee is good, and the treats are yummy! It's also far enough from campus that it's not over run with students, though it can still get busy!
