The Eddy Restaurant

About

Great gourmet dishes made from scratch. The Eddy gives comfort food a whole new meaning. Located in Kakabaka Falls just a short drive from Thunder Bay.

Story

The Eddy is simply from scratch. What does that mean? Maybe it’s best represented by our very region. A locally owned and operated restaurant, in beautiful Kakabeka Falls - that features high quality fresh products from the area, Ontario wineries, breweries and décor. It’s a restaurant that provides its guests with a place they can call home-base every single day and not just an occasional customer.
Our philosophy is simple: sustainable operational practices in combination with our attention to preparing locally crafted dishes made from our own backyard. The goal is simple: to be a leader in food service industry in sustainability in North Western Ontario.

In addition, we want to promote building heritage, what once used to be an old diner will be a place not only the locals will be talking about but the travellers who come see the beauty in our region.
The Eddy represents everything what it means to be from North Western Ontario.

I found the Greek salad overly salty but since I don't eat out much I find that true of most places. Maybe get The dressing on the side. The shrimp appetizer was excellent. The beef dip was ok. I didn't care for the bun but the au jus was very nice and the fries were tasty. The wait staff were friendly and they were good to my toddler.

In June, after driving all the way from Ottawa that day and running into a police incident at the hotel chosen in Thunder Bay, we checked in to the motel next door. Arriving at the Eddy at 19:45 we were turned away even with folks just ahead of us getting their order taken. It looked like a nice restaurant but I wasn't given the opportunity to let you know about the food or service. Sadly a big thumbs down.
