The Dam Pub is a fantastic place to have lunch and enjoy any whisky you can imagine. The only thing that took them down one notch was the poor service from the waitress. They have over 1000 whiskey's to try and the owner did a great job to search for the unique ones I wanted to try. We had the Calamari appetizer followed by Shepherds Pie and finished with the Peanut Butter Pie. All the food was excellent quality. The waitress however forgot things we ordered, brought the appetizers with the main course and forgot the mains for 2 of 5 people. If it wasn't for that I would have given 5 stars. We will definitely return though to sample more of their amazing whisky collection
Like so many others my wife and I travelled from London to Meaford for the sole purpose of eating at The Dam Pub. It absolutely lived up to the expectation and billing. The pub had a fantastic vibe and the staff were warm and welcoming. Equally as impressive was the bar area which would pique the interest of any whiskey and scotch aficionado. We had the steak and kidney pie which was lovely and flaky. My only complaint would be that I would like to see triple the amount of kidney lol. We also had the lamb shank which was rich flavourful and absolutely delicious. However, the star of the show, was the deep fried haggis. I know, I know… But honestly, you must try it. But what overshadowed everything else was a young lady named Ella. Not only did she provide tremendous customer service but she went above and beyond her world of work to ensure that the items we left behind were returned to us the following day, despite the restaurant being closed. If you are in the area it is a must stop destination. We liked it so much that we’re going back in three days lol.
Quickly becoming a favorite - really a great addition to Meaford's downtown food scene. Great decor and ambience and wouldn't you know it, unlike their neighbors down the street, they actually understand what poutine is see attached pic. Kudos to the owner for passing the savings from not paying credit card fees down to her staff.
Generous portions including the kids meals. Came for the TV famous shepherds pie - enjoyed it, vegetables on the side were very flavorful, mash potatoes did however overpower the meat. Salad - perfect Fish & Chips. You could taste the very fresh fish too bad the breading crust was far too oily and crunchy. Lots of fries on the plate with coleslaw.
Saw this place in You Gotta Eat Here. We ordered the Mussels and Frites. Shaved Beef and Bleu, and the Shepherds pie. Cute little outdoor patio. We got the curry mussels and i liked the flavours. The fries were something else, so crispy on the outside and very soft on the inside. I couldve eaten more of this. Great friendly staff and prompt service even though they were busy.
We had a fantastic anniversary dinner at the Dam Pub while visiting the Blue Mountains, we picked the Sunday dinner just so we could try the Prime Rib especially, but the deep fried haggis was also amazing and the chocolate slice of heaven for dessert fit right in even though we were so full already!!! Will be back if we are in the area again.
Excellent service, cozy and wonderful British food. Loved it so much, we’re going to have a staff Xmas dinner there
Had an amazing lunch here. Another great addition to Meaford's main street and food scene. Scotch egg, mussels and beef-blue sandwich were great. Kids loved their meals too. Will be back for dinner and some scotch sampling soon.
my nomination for "you Don't Gotta Eat Here". i wasn't even paying for lunch and i was offended. one server for the whole place, a surly one at that, and the burger I had was less than mediocre. i know the texture of a coarsely ground 14 yr old Holstein when i eat one. and you can't "gastro it up" by adding a lot of garlic. it is still 14 yrs old. fries were passable but dry. much better fare at McDonald's. very disappointing. very overrated.
Great food! I’m coming back for some whiskey
