I walked into the bar next door looking for the Commoner Bar Room. The place blends with the surrounding establishments. I was looking for the patio I had seen in pictures but later found out it was in the back. The ambiance inside was nice, music playing in the background, mood lights & comfortable seating. Food: Chicken Sandwich was absolutely delicious! It was seasoned, perfectly juicy and equipped with enough sauce that it wasnt dry. The chips that accompanied it were equally tasty. The portion size for the Ravioli in my opinion was a bit small. The service was not bad, we did receive the food in a timely manner however the drinks came a short while after the food. Overall, I would go back
We stoped in here for dinner as we are from out of town and we’re looking for somewhere close to the royal as we were seeing a show there later. I must fall Parmesan fries and that was an amazing decision. say I was very impressed! The atmosphere is great very warm and welcoming. We started with drinks I got the 4oclock sour and waoooo what a perfectly crafted cocktail. My boyfriend and o decided to order a bunch of stuff off the menu and share! I must say the burger is the best burger I have had at a restaurant in a very long time. The server suggested we upgrade our fries to the truffle Parmesan fries and they were amazing. definitely will be coming back here if we are ever in the part of the city again!
Despite having excellent atmosphere, and a tasty Claret Cup signature cocktail first star we waited a lifetime for our food and once it arrived, it was not worth the wait. My sister got the veggie burger which was what I’ll describe as ‘standard’ my friend got a regular burger which she enjoyed, I attempted to order vegetarian tacos which amounted to them putting their Szechuan cauliflower appetizer on a few sad looking tortillas - the cauliflower was undercooked and the batter was not edible… First time in my eating history have I EVER sent back food. They offered me a glass of Prosecco which provided the second star in this review. The service was mediocre at best, not really her fault as it looked like it was only her serving the whole restaurant but there was a high neglect factor at our table. When it comes to me returning, I would not. When it comes to me recommending this place, I’d suggest perhaps trying their other location, for non-vegetarians or those purely on a liquid diet.
Had an absolutely lovely date night here last weekend- we were exploring the city and this seemed to fit the bill perfectly. A quaint atmosphere that was intimate and cozy, perfect for a cocktail and food between friends or a couple. The art and decor was fresh and funny, especial the cat / dog paintings on the left side- we wanted to take these all home. The drink selection was vast, and we really had a hard time choosing between a mixed drink, or one of the many craft beers available. Ultimately I chose a fruity sour which I enjoyed, and my spouse opted for a hard cider which she also enjoyed. Our food choices weren’t wild, but somehow we were still floored by how tasty everything was. We started out with the truffle fries, and all kidding aside these were the best truffle fries we had ever eaten- the depth of flavor and freshness of the ingredients smacked you in the tastebuds, and made you wonder why all places couldn’t make simple food taste this good. Moving on from there the Mrs. chose the loaded Cobb salad which was packed with all the staples piled high. I went with the blackened chicken taco and really enjoyed the crisp seasoned exterior, while still keeping the chicken juicy and tender. To round out the experience we ordered the fried donut bites and those were devoured in a matter of seconds- delicate but buttery, just delightful. Our evening was truly extra special though because Annie Murphy Alexis from Schitt’s Creek was dining just across the aisle from us. While likely not an everyday occurrence, it should bolster the fact that this place is a must see.
What an amazing restaurant in the city! So glad we were able to get a seat for two on Valentine's day. We walked in without reservations and thankfully they were able to accommodate us. We had a seat at the bar, which was very comfortable. There was a prix fixe menu for Valentine's day which included items from their regular menu. Loved the food. Highly recommend the crab cake the chipotle sauce with this is delicious and steak frites. The beet carpaccio on the prix fixe menu was also amazing not sure if this is on the regular menu but it should be. The cocktails are incredible. It's been awhile since I have had a really delicious, well-balanced cocktail. The Valentine's day special cocktail was really lovely and subtle not overpowering. The Four O'clock Sour is highly recommended with gin and a tasteful earl grey flavour. The cocktails alone will bring me back along with the food. The bartender was really lovely and checked in on us throughout the night, even as things got busier. The overall ambiance was really lovely. Good, relaxed music and incredible people that work here. From the moment we arrived until we left, it was a a very positive experience. Can't recommend enough and can't wait to come back with friends
Great neighbourhood spot. Love the interior, we had the best seat next to the open window in the front. Ceviche was the stand out, I also had the burger which was very good.
What a stunning spot! The drinks were flawless and exceptionally well made. Our waitress Alex was so kind and sweet! The dim lighting is super romantic and the music is on point. Definitely coming back here!
Loved the place! The setting and the interiors were really nice. The front does no justice to what you see as you walk through the place into a beautiful patio at the back. It was gorgeous! We ordered the cauliflower which I felt was a little undercooked as the chunks were too big. The sauce was nice though. The truffle fries were nice but a little overcooked. Still tasted amazing regardless. Our favourite were the martinis! They were potent and very well made really well! Would definitely go back for the experience and the drinks.
Went to the commoner bar for brunch. What a great experience. Coffees, food and service was all exceptional. Chill environment and good location. Loved it.
My first visit to this venue and it was a nice experience. Our server was polite, patient and helpful. Our food came out quickly and tasted amazing! I'd go back again and highly recommend. I will say that if you plan to go, make a reservation, and also specify where you would like to be seated, outback, inside, outfront etc!
